Once again, vote for up to 3 maps after reading a brief description of each set chosen and written by Toy:
FujuniseikouyuuP - Make a Loser by val0108
- If you've ever been a fan of older "0108 style" maps, then you'll absolutely love val's Make a Loser map from 2015. This 300 bpm alternating-style map features more technical and gimmicky patterns than seen before from val, but still makes for a groovy jazz map like none before. Try to keep up with this upbeat high tempo masterpiece!
BARAKO - Otomegokoro x Kyokuchuuhatto -dandara shooting MIX- by 100pa-
- This map may be the odd one out of the group, and for more ways than one. The name 100pa- may be unknown to many, but this map has stood the test of time since its conception in 2010. The map features nearly silent hitsounds, grueling overlapping patterns, and AR8 making even the best accuracy players sqeal. Despite all this, dandara shooting MIX remains a long time classic among old-map lovers and low AR enthusiasts alike, and though the it features less than mainstream patterns in today's meta, it retains its quality in comparison to other maps from this list, especially taken in the context of when it was mapped.
TK from Ling Tosite Sigure - unravel by handsome
- No new face to the Loved category, handsome returns with yet another high quality, and highly innovative map with unravel from late 2016. handsome explores new territory in difficulty with this aesthetically cluttered CS2 map featuring fast sliders, high spacing, and a difficult back-and-forth section. Even if you can't play it, it's very easy to appreciate the innovation and execution in how carefully every object is placed making it stand out from any ranked version of this song.
sky_delta - Grenade by Nanashima Asami
- If the last few maps had you craving for something a little more energetic and upbeat, Nanashima Asami has you covered with Grenade from early 2017. This map may be the fundamental definition of a technical map, featuring an uptempo electronic beat coupled with unconventional slider shapes, varying stream spacing, slider velocity changes, and syncopated rhythms. All in all, hop in the passenger seat of this start-to-finish explosion of exciting patterns and rhythm.
BRZion - Game Brain by Zapy
- A set from 2011 that has long been abandoned in 2012, Zapy's Game Brain is a staple in popular older map lists and features a full set of difficulties for all players to enjoy. This 190 BPM 8bit tune will challenge your reading with fast-paced doubles, a flat AR9 less regularly seen on maps of this pace recently, and a rhythm that's constantly switching between focus of the background and melody. Immerse yourself in this wonderfully crafted symmetrical beast.
Kushi - Sakura no Zenya (Speed Up Ver.) by Taeyang
- Last but not least, boasting over 650 favorites since late 2015, Taeyang's Sakura no Zenya was a trailblazer in difficult unranked jump maps. The sped up back-and-forths crescendo nicely into a grand finale bringing you back to the same rhythm introduced in the first few seconds of the map. The intensity is perfectly matched by a beautiful storyboard created by Down. Though at a surface level the map seems generic, it's only due in part to how influential it was to similar maps of today.
