When I was nub (1 year ago), I rendered one of my videos at 12500 kbps. It was almost 7 minutes long, and over 600 MB in size. That's like... overly bloated, but still though, I wouldn't recommend anything less than 5 Mb/s for 720p. (actually if you're really good, you can go lower; one of my latest videos is 8 Mb/s, 60 FPS 1080p pseudo-lossless, but it's still almost 300 MB) All of my 2 minute videos take like 30 - 60 minutes to upload, just because I can't stand crappy quality.
Basically, if you want to have any HD stuff, you gotta be patient, but HD is good
Also, I'll assume you're still uploading. Unfortunately, I don't have anything entertaining for you to do. But, well, as I always say, go play osu!. You're talking on a forums for a perfectly good game you can play. <_<

I don't have that 15 minute limit. I was part of the old director program that they had in Youtube. I can upload any length I want. Then again, I never use it.

..Oh wait. I just realized something. Despite the fact that the YouTube channel/account is more than one years old, I have recently switched the Google Account it was associated with to my new e-mail address since the old one I had from 2007 had a stupid user-name and was subscribed to a bunch of services back then. The switch to the new google account was in January 2011, and in this blog post made by YouTube, they said that I need a history of complying to YouTube's Guidelines and Copyright Laws.
Whenever the associated google account is changed to another one, the YouTube account is refreshed and is identified as a newly made account, for some stupid reason. So I probably have to wait until January 2012 for the account to be identified as one year old, allowing me to upload videos longer than 15 minutes.
But until then, I'm gonna have fun trimming video recordings down to 15 minutes if I accidentally exceed the dumb limit.

I had my Games channel (VampiricGames) since the end of January 2011 and today my stats
I got my extended upload time in April after uploading a few videos (For me, it was about 4 videos).
I don't know exactly how I got it so quickly (Maybe because of no copyright issues with the YTBots)
It might just be the luck of the draw.
