Making the background darker/getting rid of the background image

Is there any way to do this? There are some songs in which the background makes it very hard to see the buttons correctly.

You could enter the song's folder and delete it. And if a BG is making it hard to see the approach circles, that's bad.

Wow thanks, now a lot of songs are amazingly easier. Osu should have an option to make backgrounds darker.

It doesn't have it yet since everyone deletes map's elements like skins/BG/SB since all they do when playing seriously is annoy you.

You're in the minority wishy. Hardly anyone deletes map elements, and those who do usually only do it on the especially bad/annoying ones.

If you want to make the background darker, you can add this to the .osb file in the folder:
//Storyboard Layer 0 (Background)
Sprite,Background,Centre,"<insert background name here>",320,240
C,0,0,999999999,128,128,128
S,0,0,999999999,.625
If you want to make it darker, change the "128,128,128" to something less. 63 is black during gameplay, really dark during breaks.
If the background is 1024x768, you'll use .625. If it's 800x600, you'll use .8. If it's some other size, you have to figure it out yourself.

But this is tedious and not really worth your while. What you should do is play the game like it was meant to be played.

There's a feature request to let the player change the background dim somewhere.

Not all can be done via ziin method. Especially if the beatmap have SB, and SB is written in .osu file instead in the .osb

Keep in mind this method won't work once the osz2 file format rolls around :P

Is there anyone who seriously plays this game and still plays with annoying skins/BG/SB? With everyone I mean serious player not casuals.
Waryas
This game caters more to casual players than hardcore players.
Wishy

I know that some map BG/element does annoy me. But somehow I can slowly adapt to " learn2play with bad elements"

I thought it's more opposite since only now you start to see insane with dt+hd rather than 2 years ago when players were happy to barely get a 99% on insane without mods.

I'll only delete them in certain conditions, mostly due to not wanting to go to the folder. I can't play with a BG if it's colorful and I'm trying something with hidden, or if the AR is high. Most skin elements don't bother me unless it's changing the 300 hits or approach circle. Video is kinda in the same boat as BG unless it does something like move the majority of the scene around a lot

If I go in to delete something from the skin I'll usually just clear it out, since it does make it easier. Not necessary most of the time though

Edit: JesusYamato is a butt
Waryas
AnFace got a tight butt.
