How do you set a BPM?

I'm a total newb in making beatmaps. I already tried and they were denied.

My first problem is the BPM. I don't actually know how to set a BPM. And most of the songs I used had their BPM set to over 300 (by using the "tap here" or something). So how do I actually set a BPM? 'cause 300 doesn't feel right for me.

Is it depending on the music I'm gonna use?

I wanna work on "Fast Forward" by MONKEY MAJIK and it's 320 kbps. I don't know how the kbps affects the BPM.

Kbps doesnt affect bpm but will affect offset after re encoded. Allowable bit rate is 192-128kbps. You can try use this. Though it just a rough estimation and it not reliable against multiple bpm

You can open the timing setup panel and manually set the BPM in there, however tapping is adviced for an accurate BPM, just tap to the beat and not the other instruments if you dont want it to go over 300 XD
If you're still having trouble finding the correct BPM contact an expert mapper/modder or a MAT/BAT to help you find the BPM/Offset of your song

One of the easier ways for complete-timing-noobs to understand this is the "headbobbing" rule. If you bob your head in time with the music, you're likely going to get the right bpm (or a multiple of two or half if you're an insane rocker or calm headbobber)
