Hi I'm making this thread so that players of various skill level could share there ideas how they became a more "technically" taiko player.

What do I mean by Taiko Tech exactly??

What I mean by taiko Tech is the skills that made just a better taiko player in general. For example things that made me get better accuracy in was just to listen to stay at a constant rhythm of the song and not to feel the need to "speed up" during the song. However this thread doesn't only have to be about accuracy. It should be about the numerous different mechanics in taiko that you feel like you gotten quite well at. More examples are how you got better at different mods Like Hardrock, Hidden, Double Time or how you were able to read 1/6 and other difficult patterns.

How is this different from the advice thread?

This is different from the advice thread is because you are sharing ideas and tips that make you better. Not asking on how to get better at things you already know about. This thread should be informative about skills taiko players maybe not even know about or how to approach getting better at it. I think its important for players that are trying to get better should learn some tips from the skillful taiko players that are in our community.

Also if have any questions or ideas on how can make this thread clearer be sure to post them down there :)

Well not sure if anything I will say here is unknown but figured it might help some people. I play mostly HR and while first getting into it I remember it being impossible to read. If anyone is having a hard time reading it what I did was started out with low bpm/low sv songs and slowly worked my way higher. Also I started with songs that had a lower base OD & worked my way slowly to higher OD. There will eventually be a BPM that is too fast to read but just keep slowly working at higher BPM songs with HR and you should be able to read it well. HR in Taiko is kinda like DT but for the eyes ;)

Ok So is everything that I can think of that made better at taiko

No mod

I honestly wasn't good at reading no mod when I first started playing taiko. I ended up playing converts and switching to a kkdd play style. I also started doing much better with hard rock than no mod. My tip for playing no mod is probably different than most others but i learned to look very close at the left of my screen (like cm away from the circle) Looking near my left circle has helped me improve my nm skills a lot especially when playing low bpm.

Hidden

I'm still not that great with hidden but I am much better than I was 3 years ago. I played only hd maps for about 2 weeks and I started to memorize where the notes where by looking at the sv changes.

HardRock!

This is the mod is the reason why I started playing taiko seriously. I did really start off in taiko playing hard rock so my advice to become better at it would be just to seriously play everything with it. Also when I'm playing hard rock start of by checking the notes for the right of my screen and quickly think about how I should play the notes. I think about how fast are the notes coming, what pattern are they, is a triple, double, stream. Basically everything I do for no mod but with a much faster reaction. I'm at the point where i have to look near the left circle on my screen around 150-200 bpm and the middle for 200-215 and the right side for everything else.

Double Time

Sure i'm not any _yu68 or applerss but I would consider my self to be a pretty experienced double time player and maybe my advice will be helpful. So when I was about 5.5k pp I started playing dt. I was very annoyed that my accuracy and combo was very low for maps that were 5 stars (including the modifier). So I got some advice from a good double time player and he told to play the muzukashii's so I could get used to the small sv change. This was extremely helpful. Also playing maps with only 5 od was felt very comfortable. Slowly I was able to pass 5 star maps then fc them, then pass 6 stars maps then fc some of them. I can pass 7 star dt maps and maybe one day ill start fcing them :)

Flashlight

I play some flashlight at very low difficulties. All I can say is listen to the song and memorize the notes at those parts. Also don't be afarid to edit out the part of the map you are having trouble with

Passing 6 star maps

Tbh I feel like most 6 star maps have some 1/6s in them and they long patterns or they are very fast. The more I played taiko the comfortable I became at reading it so I learned how to adjust my speed for 1/6. For long patterns I learned how to break them apart very quickly into smaller patterns and I look at the notes that come after that small pattern and repeat. Also watching my replays and seeing what patterns I need to work on was helpful.

I hope this was informative to somebody in someway :)
