Problem Details:
1. Every week or so 1000-5000 ranked maps get to "Not Submitted" category.
2. Each of them has no thumbnail in menu and no status icon.
3. Ranked maps' thumbnails are shown incorrectly - they get messed up.
4. When anyone in multiplayer chooses a map which is ranked but got to "Not Submitted" in my client and starts the game, it freezes for 10-15 seconds, then I get a message "could not load beatmap" and then I see the main menu.
5. After that I start seeing grey stripes in multi instead of random players' usernames, as if the slot was locked, but the color is grey, not black.
6. Eventually multiplayer stops working and any beatmap "can't be loaded".

To fix this problem I have to manually load the score table for each map from "Not Submitted" category. It's very annoying and long to do.
This happens on all osu! versions.

Hello,
Have you scanned your computer for any viruses?
  1. Try scanning your computer for malware or viruses
Is your osu!.db corrupt? You would know when you see "Your songs folder have been changed, refrain from editing files in the songs folder" or something close to that.
  1. Try moving out your osu!.db out of the folder and open the game again.
Where is osu! Installed? Maybe it doesn't have enough permissions
  1. Open the game and go to settings and go at the bottom, then hit "Fix folder permissions"
  2. Try copying the whole osu! Directory in another location then move osu!.db out of the folder and launch it there.
If it still occurs you can try repairing osu!
Method 1: Launch Repair Dialog
  1. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
  2. While holding Shift, double click the osu! icon on your desktop.
  3. Continue holding Shift until you see the recovery dialog prompt.
  4. From there, click on the "Repair osu!" option
Method 2: Shortcut
If you have the "repair osu!" Shortcut, opening that also works.

Method 3: Config Shortcut
If you don't have the "repair osu!" Shortcut, you can create one instead.
  1. Right click osu!.exe > Create a shortcut
  2. Open properties of the shortcut
    1. Select then Alt + Enter or
    2. Right click > Properties
  3. Set Target to ...\osu!.exe -config
  4. Press OK then open the shortcut
Method 4: Text document
You can also force the updater to run by creating a new text document in your osu! folder called "help". Right-click in an empty space in your osu! folder, and choose New > Text Document.
Name it help and then run osu! to start the updater in forced maintenance mode.
