Background problems

Hey im having trouble with my background on a beatmap i created, SMiLE.dk-BUTTERFLY

I was told to change the bg cuz it was too blurry, i deleted the old one from the osu file and inserted a new one but when i submit it to pending beatmaps, the old one is always there :/ someone help please

Did you click "Full Submission" when re-uploading the map?

Just wondering, when did you full-submit? The thumbnails are updated every 12 hours or so, so I advise waiting 24hrs before expecting results. If the picture still does not change after that time, I can try some more drastic measures, but I rather avoid that.

it has been about 36 hours since i last upload the map...the old bg is still there :(

Ok, I think there officially are problems with the thumbnail image not updating. Right now there are no less than 3 (!) threads in General Questions regarding problems with this:

And of course this thread.

I can't speak for anyone else, but at least regarding my own map I've done over 5 full submits over the course of a week, including a couple where I deleted the BG's, submitted, restored, and resubmitted (at James's suggestion), and the thumbnail picture has stayed exactly the same.

Can someone look into the cause of this problem please?

I think i have worked out what is wrong with the bg...but i have no idea how to fix it...
When i highlight the map's folder in songs, in the bottom left hand corner, it shows the old bg there.
As i have said before, i deleted from the folder. I have also tried to insert a new bg but i dont think that will work

Hm... I don't think that the osu! upload functionality would base the preview image on the thumbnail that Windows displays, but I can't say for sure. My problem still shows up on the song info, though Windows handles the folder properly. I'd kinda like to get that fixed before it gets ranked...

Also, when there are multiple backgrounds, which one will become the preview image? Just wondering.

I heard somewhere that the thumbnail will be the one you uploaded the difficulty from, ex. you stay on Normal while uploading and the background set for Normal becomes the thumbnail. I'm not sure though, I haven't tested it myself.

Regarding thumbnail reset problems, I can only comment that one of my map suffers from the same issue, though I haven't looked much into it. I'll try to find some time to test stuff myself later.
