How do you make spinners with a picture next to it that fills up?
Where do I even start with making a proper spinner? T-T

I've already done the spinner(thanks anyway :) ). The only thing I'm stuck at now is the "spinner-metre" which I don't see it when I use the spinner in game(I added in an image to be the "spinner-metre"). Am I missing out on some smaller details about the spinner-metre and stuff?

Well, just keep two things in mind

1. The Spinner must be an OLD Spinner (a.k.a have a background and a whole image for the spinner instead of it being layered)

2. Make sure your metre is 1024x692 pixels big as this is the ideal size.

I don't really understand this part^ The images for the metre have already been resized to 1024x692.

Edit : I've tried to add in the spinner metre in, and the image gets distorted when i use the spinner. Tried to add a border for the metre as well, don't align at all.

Well, we're making progress here lol. What kind of "distortion" is happening? Could you send a screenshot of how it looks? Remember that the metre has its anchor point at the top left and will not automatically align to the center. I'll be waiting ^^

Here are some screenshots for the spinner doing its thing, http://imgur.com/a/lDo58 I tried to change the position of the image but it only made it worse >.<

Oh yea, and I gotta ask. If you get an idea from someone's element(e.g spinner circle) and make your own(similar) element using that idea, do you need to ask permission from the person for you to use it? :o

Well, for problem #1, it seems like the metre only loads halfway? Or is it supposed to cut off at the skirt?

Also, I recommend your character to stretch out from the top to the bottom so there's no empty space there (except if it is supposed to cut off there)

#2, no, only if you use their exact same images, you need to give credit, since you're using someone else's work. You still could anyway, that would be nice I guess xD

Yes, it was supposed to cut off at the skirt, that was the whole image itself.

Currently trying to adjust the stretching(Which will take a while. Trial and error to see which one looks better(?) xD)

Edit : What about hitsounds, drum sound... game sounds etc? I assume I will need to get permission from the owners too right?

Size of "scorebar-ki, scorebar-kidanger and scorebar-kidanger2" depends on your scorebar and creativity. Try trial and error method.
Also you gotta be specific in your question.

So after several tries of playing with the sizes of the images, I managed to end up with this http://imgur.com/a/2JChJ
Progress is made, but the background and metre are still not aligned and there still is some distortion on the lower area of the image.

I already make some things like the SPIN! or Section Pass, Section Fail, Unranked, Go, count1, 2, 3...

And another question.

I want to make inputoverlay-background but I don't know how?

Can somebody help me?

I'm new at this so it's hard for me.  :)

Yes. If you use someone else's sounds from their skin, you need permission. If you use game sounds, I don't think permission is needed, just credit.

But I guess some of the sounds are overused and nobody even know anymore where was those sounds originally.
I hear them like in every 2th skin
And even if you trace the "sounds" to original skin, that guy who put them there, probably didn't create them either.
PS I mean actual recording of the sounds.

Does anyone have more tips on how to do spinner-metre and spinner background, I'm really stuck on that T_T

Can't seem to align the metre and background even though the image sizes have been adjusted(trial and error), and the image is distorted on the lower area.

Here's the link to the files for the spinner, metre and background etc.

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/hnuuc0x4irgda/Spinner_stuff

And some images of the spinner at the moment, http://imgur.com/a/wT3B5 Was trying to shift it more to the right so it won't block the spinner.

I tried to resize the canvas for the .png and repositioned some stuff.
Now it works on my screen, let's hope it works on yours

It worked! Thank you :P :)

But how did you manage to align it? Were the image sizes I sent you too wide? Am really curious to know how it's done

Thanks again~
AbsurdDive
Are the "[X].ini" files needed anymore when skinning for O!mania? :?:

Because I was trying to make things a bit more tidy by having one ".ini" file per key mode.. but when I did it, Osu couldn't find the files of my skin and used the default skin elements :? ^^"

is it safe to just erase those files?

thanks in advance for the reply and thanks OP for this thread! :)
Ayesha Altugle
the x.ini files aren't used anymore. They are now inside skin.ini

I resized the canvas to the same dimensions as my Monster Hunter skin spinner background
then for the alignment simply trial and error, so if it's too high move it few pixels down
(ctrl + alt + shift + s) is really useful btw

My follow points are flickering/glitching, not intended effect. How do I stop it?

Also, is it possible to have two different animations(e.g back and skip button) to be used despite different framerates? :?

anyone know how to change the highlight colour when a key is pressed in the inputoverlay? Currently for me it's pink, and I don't know how to change it.

Yellow is for keyboard input and Pink is for mouse input. I don't think you can change those colors.
