You can already do this by changing the sound files in the taiko skin.

What about on the Taiko Mod? Are they any different?
The taiko mod uses regular hit sounds. If you have the taiko skin installed, it'll use the hit sounds from the taiko skin. If you don't, it'll use the hit sounds from whatever skin you're using.
Peppy, maybe have "use taiko skin for taiko mode" as an option with a checkbox, in case people want to experiment with taiko mode using different skins.
