Simple Idea - Adopting a Graved Beatmap so you can work on it and make it ranked

Either ask the original mapper for permission to use their map or start from scratch.
You could use the timing from the map as a guide for your map but anything more than that and you should get their permission.

But hold up.

That means that the mapper who mapped it would have to re-commit to it, which people don't want to do, which is why the map is graved most of the time.

Also I'm pretty sure that most somewhat skilled mappers would rage at the one adopting doing changes and everything and ruining the map.
