Finally, a new build is upon us! This release focuses on a new bancho implementation to stabilise the system during peak times, but also includes updates to the osu! updater, editor dialogs (timing setup mainly), default skin, and many bug fixes on top of that. As it has been a while since the last release, I have probably missed a lot in the changelog, so have fun exploring and finding the changes!



Note: Yes sort by rank is gone from the user list view. I will comment on this in the near future, but for now please live without it and have faith :).

Update:
b1796 was initial release.
b1797 brought back rank sort and some bug fixes.
b1798 has around 20 bug fixes and adds a confirmation dialog when processing songs.
b1800 fixes my stupidity.
b1801 (2011/03/30) fixes most bugs reported since b1800.

i can't see any of my online friends

also, disappointed that all those sort-by stuff on the Extended Chat are gone, since i sorted mine by rank, which was REALLY useful imo

Liking the new tint on the background but something about the main logo makes it looks crooked O_O" Thats probably just me though.

i agree 200%. although it ACTUALLY isn't crooked (i think), something makes it does.
i think it's because the logo is like, flat, and the Play, Edit, etc. have that tiny 3D effect with the shading

I vote osu button be rotaded 30 degrees counter clockwise in the main menu

It's not just you. I see that it's tilted too. ;)
EDIT: The thing is, the current main logo on this new build of osu! isn't a circle. Sorry, my eyes fooled me. I see a skewed osu! logo, but after I examined it, it's not skewed at all.

also, is it just me, or are the song names and diff. names etc. dangerously close to the edge now?

On a side-note, is the splash image editable?
Don't get me wrong, I like it alot, gives me a good feeling, but I might like to add something to that image later on.

Always good to hear about more bancho stability, new default skin/main menu design looks pretty cool too

The new editor layout has to be the thing I am impressed with the most at the moment, kudos to MM for that one

The blue came as a surprise but I do like it. (Pink will always be #1 in my heart) I'll be showing this to all of my friends alllll over again.

You can solve thiis by using the template skin. Just download it from the Extra tab@osume and copy-paste everything from your skin there, then you'll get your skin + old fashioned stuff.

I think he means by not using the template skin. Positioning is correct using the default skin.

that blue on menu made me blind ;_; but i need to agree i'm happy for the pvt tabs that don't close when you get dc and for the editor changes. XD
just waiting to see how this ranking system will work >_<

Honestly. I felt that the old ranking system was rather unappealing. Say there's a 12m point song that's rather easy for it so you go to play it, oh wait, it's K-pop/ Rap / Vocaloid / WHATEVER that person doesn't like. And so you spend the time listening to a song you don't like playing a map that you only play to get rank up so that you can get to #th rank on Osu!??

If that's what Osu! is for these days, than a ranking system remake isn't just fair play, it should be mandatory.

(And don't you say you've NEVER played a song you didn't really like just to get a score on it and leave it. I know you're lying. :( )

Don't get too excited about changing ranking system. It will likely take a while and I have other immediate focuses. Depending on demand, sort by rank *may* return in the meanwhile.

I really don't like how it doesn't show the rank of the rooms in multiplayer now D: I used to see it as a reference on like where to go in.

also there is no more custom tittle screen image? D: I liked having that tittle.png because I could edit it and make it more custom.

I think it should return since even when it wasn't really a perfect tool for knowing how good a player was, it was somehow accurate (high ranked people got to be somewhat good at least, and people ranked under 10k is usually not good for example). As you say it would likely take a while, having SOMETHING meanwhile would be pretty nice.

Any info we can have about the future ranking system? xd
