You just want to have a good night’s sleep with the full moon rather than the red imitation shown before you. This method in particular catches your attention, as it’s essentially another way to go out and just shoot at random people looking for an answer.

Your role is: Protagonist. Vote along with your fellow players to find the Lunarians responsible for this incident. You win if all Lunarians are felled.

You are Yukari Yakumo. Sure, you could have perpetrated this incident the same way you fooled around a year ago with the Netherworld, but this time, it’s not you. To be honest, you just want to be able to do your favorite activity—full moon watching while asleep. Your role is: Mafia Hitman. You will decide whom it is that will be killed during the Night phase. Note that you will be considered Lunarian under a search. Your allies are the Lunarians Reisen Udongein Inaba (aka:_____) and Eirin Yagakoro (aka:_____). You win if the number of Lunarians equals the number of Protagonists.

You are Reisen Udongein Inaba. A rabbit from the moon with an almost unspellable middle name, you are a master of illusion. By just looking in your eyes, you can make anyone see whatever you want them to see. Changing wavelengths is fun, isn’t it?

Your role is: Mafia Roleblocker. In this role, you are able to stop one person’s Night action from taking place. If you block the Cop, they will be notified. If you block the Doctors, they will only be notified that they were blocked if the result is a Night death on the person being protected. Neither will directly implicate you as the Roleblocker. You will turn up as Lunarian if searched. Your allies are the Lunarians Kaguya Houraisan (aka:_____) and Eirin Yagakoro (aka:_____). You win if the number of Lunarians equals the number of Protagonists.

Note that this offer is only valid during the Night, so… You can protect any person as many times as you wish, but you cannot protect yourself. Do NOT confer with the Hit Man about who you will choose to protect. You will turn up as Lunarian if searched. Your allies are the Lunarians Kaguya Houraisan (aka:_____) and Reisen Udongein Inaba (aka:_____). You win if the number of Lunarians equals the number of Protagonists.

You are Keine Kamishiwasawa. A were-hakutaku with a nigh-unspellable name, it falls on you to protect humans from the Lunarian’s schemes. Your power to change history and rewrite it, unfortunately, will not be useful here, as you can only delete it without the full moon. Although you prefer to protect solely humans, you’ll have to resort to also protecting the youkai as well.

You role is: Doctor. You have the ability to defend one person against the Hit Man’s attacks. Your protection is guaranteed. You may protect anyone else as much as you like, but you are unable to protect yourself. You are allied with the Protagonists, and will count as one in victory conditions. You win if all Lunarians are felled.

You are Fujiwara no Mokou. Eternal rival to Kaguya, the fact that you’re immortal will not stop the possibility that you will be killed during these events. However, because you’ve fought her for millennia, you can tell if someone you tail is a Lunarian or just one of your allies, even without looking directly at them (as is often the case, because Kaguya loves ambush situations).

Your role is: Cop. You are allied with the Protagonists, and will count as one in victory conditions. You win if all Lunarians are felled. A Cop can do surveillance once every Night Phase on a single target. The resulting information will determine if that person is Lunarian or otherwise. Only the Cop will be notified.

You are Aya Shameimaru. Despite not even being in this game (next time, Aya, next time), you just can’t refuse the spectacle of people trying to kill each other over nothing. Who cares about the full moon, journalistic rules, or even the truth—you just want a scoop.

Your role is: Informant. You are able to tell if a person is able to act during the Night phase (but not if they’re Lunarian or Protagonist). However, 66% of the time, you must lie when posting messages after Day Phase 1. If your percentage falls below 33%, you will be ModKilled for actually providing useful advice. You win if you live through the ordeal. You will not count as Protagonist in victory conditions. If your identity is revealed by any other character (even the GM), the current Phase will immediately end and you will be killed because no one wants her around.

You are Hieda no Akyu. As the recorder of history, even overriding Keine’s powers, you will write this down. You cannot fight, nor can you vote, but you control the destinies of everyone here. Not even Kaguya herself can kill you without special powers.

Your role is: GM. You will write down what happens through the events of this game. If something will fail, it is your responsibility to change it. It is also your responsibility to ensure a constant schedule. You are untargetable. You win if the game plays out to a conclusion.

A journal entry found in the bowels of the Hieda residence. Penned by the ninth Child of Miare, this journal chronicles the events of the second Lunar incident.

Day 7, Month 9, Year 119 of the Gensokyo Lunar calendar.
Something has been bothering me lately. Despite claims by Reimu Hakurei, Yukari Yakumo, and Eirin Yagakoro that the full moon has been returned to normal, I have noticed certain changes in the last month since Reimu and Yukari defeated Mokou in the Bamboo Forest. The moon has been reaching its phases later and later than normal. Even now, when it should be by all means a half moon, it is still a crescent. I am certain that Renko, an outsider I have had the chance to meet during one of their forays into Gensokyo, must be tremendously irritated. Her power to instantly determine the time and location through the moon and stars must have been thrown far out of whack.

My first thought was that Sakuya Izayoi, a maid with the power to manipulate time, was for some reason slowing down the moon. However, this would be very detrimental to the other residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion—notably, the vampires Flandre and Remilia Scarlet. Their power also stems from the moon, so moving the date of the full moon would make little sense. Also, there is the fact that the younger sister, Flandre, is prone to going completely, if I may take a word from the outside, batshit. Please pardon the pun. It may be possible that Flandre may just obliterate Gensokyo because of this event. Therefore, this possibility is out.

Remembering the cause of the Endless Winter incident, I then thought that it may have been possible for Yukari Yakumo, a gap youkai, to fiddle around with the borders controlling the moon’s phases. However, after having someone observe her for a full week, I have come to the conclusion that this is impossible. Something of this magnitude requires constant upkeep of the borders, and to be honest, there’s absolutely no way that’s going to happen if you’re asleep 23 out of the 24 hours of the day. It also doesn’t help if the one hour awake is spent tormenting Reimu Hakurei.

Because Eientei is filled with Lunarians, most notably the princess of the Moon, Kaguya Houraisan, and the aforementioned Brain of the Moon, Eirin Yagakoro, they should have the most knowledge of lunar magicks. To my surprise, however, when I dispatched one of my allies, she reported that all of the Lunarians have suddenly fled the House of Eternity that has been their home for millennia. They had left all of the Earth rabbits, including Tei, the rabbits’ leader, behind.

Confused, I consulted with Fujiwara no Mokou, a fellow human with a bitter eternal rivalry against Kaguya. She revealed some information to me that was very surprising—the Lunarians had been gone ever since she was defeated a month ago.

Something was wrong, so I called in three pairs most notable in Gensokyo to seek them out:

Yukari Yakumo and Reimu Hakurei, the masters of borders. Despite a powerful battle in the Netherworld not too long ago, they’ve (begrudgingly) become partners. Their homing abilities are weak, but they can hit pretty much any enemy at any angle.

Alice Margatroid and Marisa Kirisame, magic-users and general powerhouses. Despite Marisa stopping Flandre Scarlet in the aftermath of the Scarlet Mist disaster, both Marisa and Alice are below either Reimu or Yukari in power. That doesn’t stop either of them, though. Their devastating laser attacks make them useful when high power is required.

Remilia Scarlet and Sakuya Izayoi, two people who control fate and time, respectively. They were the ones to create the Scarlet Mist disaster, but they have reformed since, especially with the primary cause now tamed and not sealed. Sakuya uses many knives, in a very wide area, while Remilia uses her ability to control fate by precisely placing her bat familiars for the most damage to an enemy.

As each of them came in, Mokou and our mutual friend, Keine Kamishirasawa, made an appearance, saying that they were going to help get to the bottom of this mystery.

Night 7, Month 9.
I have received disturbing news. Kaguya has seen fit to obliterate all those who would look for her. I received a message delivered by Tei, who appeared before me afflicted by one of Reisen’s illusions. As soon as she handed over the note, the hold was snapped, and to my surprise, Tei started crying.

Akyu,
I have heard that you are trying to find me. While I am not allowed to kill you directly for reasons beyond my personal control, I will start killing anyone you send. I have already taken out a few of your numbers. Sadly, this came at… some expense, but this is of little consequence. No matter how many enemies you bring to bear against me, I will not lose. Until I next contact you again.

She had already acted. While I do not know exactly who was eliminated on either side, the fact remains that there are at least seven or eight remaining. After crying as many tears as she could shed, Tei offered to help me recapture the Lunarians. Unfortunately, due to the sensitive situation, I did not feel that someone like her should be attempting to locate Kaguya, and so I had no choice but to refuse her offer.

I do not know where she has gone to.

I have been informed about the aliases that each person uses, but I have no knowledge of who has which alias.

Day 8, Month 9.
The Tengu reporter, Aya Shameimaru, has been found in front of Marisa’s house at approximately 8:15 A.M., dead from a lethal blow to the head which appears to have been done by a stone bowl the main suspect, Kaguya Houraisan, is fond of eating from—the “Buddha’s Stone Bowl.” There have been traces of an ofuda, as well as stardust, detected, but seeing as she was at Reimu’s place the day before the murder, this is more likely coincidence. Analysis of her notebook has revealed that before the incident, she was writing an article about a possible relationship between Reimu and Marisa. The fact that she was in front of Marisa’s house (when Marisa was killing time at Alice’s) when the murder occurred points toward her last action as an investigative “search” of Marisa’s room. The Forest of Magic is far from Eientei, Kaguya’s last known location, so one thing is certain.

She has moved out…with the intent to kill. Perhaps she was attempting to kill Marisa instead, but after finding the reporter, she had no choice in the matter. It was kill or be revealed.

While I did not particularly like this reporter (generally because of her rather false reports), I am saddened by the fact that an innocent to our little fight has been killed. This has only strengthened my resolve to keep going. Kaguya must not be allowed to kill another.

There is but one week before the supposed next full moon. I have a bad feeling… if the 15th passes without a full moon… Not only will Keine and I have to work harder to catch up on history, history itself may be thrown out of whack. Not to mention the ever looming possibility of Flandre Scarlet going berserk again.

I'm usually on AIM if anyone wants to discuss the game. Keep in mind that I might be modding, so don't always expect an immediate response.

Remember that in a last-ditch situation, you could always PM other players as you will during Day phases, instead of having to use AIM, MSN, etc.

In any case, there's about 21 hours left to make a decision before the curtain falls on the first Day. No votes yet. I'm not privvy to what you guys are talking about, but it seems that the Mafia will be the ones to strike the first blow on the iron.

Despite my fears that Kaguya would attack someone tonight, after Aya was killed the day before, it has been strangely quiet. I have received no letters from her, and my sources outside my mansion tell me that the others are alive and well.

Frankly, yesterday scared me a little. Perhaps everyone's just biding their time. Perhaps they've gotten so lost that they can't find each other. Only they know.

As I warm myself underneath my kotatsu, I have to wonder what they're doing. There's less than a week left before the moon is supposed to be full again, and I've been working overtime in the meanwhile. I hope I can finish this part of the Chronicle before then.

I…I didn’t think this would happen. Apparently Yukari, known by her alias Nakao, has been defeated at the edge of Gensokyo by Kaguya. Evidence found at the scene points to the culprit using one of her Impossible Requests – the Robe of the Fire Rat. Yuka, the flower youkai, was also at the scene, complaining of the fact that she can’t have a rematch anymore. Considering what happened last time, I don’t think that would be a good thing, as Yukari was forced to bring out an ICBM – whatever that is.

It’s a half moon tonight. The youkai are getting more restless, and some have even tried attacking the Human Village. Thankfully, the two people from the Netherworld are holding them off for now. I’ve called in reinforcements from Makai and the Scarlet Devil Mansion, but they have not arrived yet.

I hope they hurry.

Akyu,
I’m surprised at your allies’ lack of attacking. At this rate, they’ll all die before they even try to take me out. Is your Cop disabled or something?

I may very well just default this to the Lunarians already. At the current pace (that is, no pace at all), today will have no decision, and then no matter who the Hit Man kills during the Night (if the Doctor cannot successfully defend the Hit Man's target), their victory condition will be met. I don't think we'll be having another one of these soon, if ever again, thanks to the seeming lack of participation coming from the Night players.
