  1. Press ctrl+A, i noticed you have a habit of placing objects in somewhat the center, the entire editor is your canvas for objects, having everything
    in the center flows bad try using the whole playfield
  2. Try to listen to the song more and not just only to the rhythm
  3. I like this song
  4. A lot of bad things in your map
00:04:140 (1) - you want to emphasize that huge guitar start with a slider, circle doesn't do it

00:06:306 (10) - theres a guitar here, you should also follow the guitar when possible in a song like this, don't just leave it empty

00:07:390 (2) - inconsistent spacing you probably did that accidently

00:09:473 (1) - small example
those 1/2 gaps are a really bad idea, because the guitar keeps going so you should keep the map continuously going, I really suggest you to fill in those gaps with sliderends, that’s where sliders are for


00:11:140 (10) - New Combo on each Long White tick (or so called the downbeat)

00:36:139 (1) - don't just plainly map the rhythm, you can differentiate to emphasize stuff, for example sliders on the vocals would be fun, the vocals is actually an "instrument" you can follow aswell

00:42:140 (1) - missing sliders here, the guitar is rising

02:08:139 (1,2,1,2,3,4,1,2,1,2,3,4,1,2,1,2,3,4,1,2) - the guitar keeps going so let the map do the same, I feel like I'm missing some sliders

- combo colors!
- add kiai time to indicate the most intense sections of your map
- fix your AIMod issues (ctrl shift a)

- also, you have a lot of unsnapped timing lines, i'd snap those to ur beats here, like the red/white/blue ticks, any of em can be snapped to, just make sure you snap them correctly

01:42:473 (6) - looks kinda stubby visually

01:43:306 (2,3,4) - stack with sliderend of 01:42:473 (6) -

01:50:806 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) - curve this more, also, make the changes consistent with ur strong downbeats (the big white ticks)

final comment: I guess just try some variety. consistency is very good to have and is like a requirement for rankability, but you also want to vary your jump sections a little bit more, maybe add some triangle jumps or other patterns, call me back when you've taken a look at this mod and changed some things!

  1. Overall: honestly, I think you're overmapping with stuff like 01:02:140 (1,2,1) or 02:18:473 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3) . But ok nvm, forget about it
  2. 00:01:640 (3) - angle isn't perfect. Just copypaste this 00:01:140 (1) - and use ctrl+s to make it longer. And align it to the followpoints
  3. 00:13:139 (1) - NC, instead of 00:13:473 (1)
  4. 00:16:140 (7) - nc
  5. Ok, the current NC design needs some work. You're trying to make nice view, but NC's shoud reflect music bars and tune
  6. 00:31:473 (3) - missed a note in the guitar melody
  7. 00:42:806 (1,1,1) - looks pretty messy, so:
    1. 00:43:139 (1) - this slider doesn't needs two white dots. you can make the same shape with just one
    2. 00:43:473 (1) - try to stack this in 00:42:473 (1) sliderened

The most important problem that I see, is that you're trying to reflect the music perfectly, but completely forget about the rhythm in general :o

This is especially a problem because 00:28:140 (1) - they play the same thing again, and you solve it much better! You could and should in my opinion use that rhythm pattern at the 12 second mark aswell.

00:16:139 (7) - NC this, not 00:16:639 (1) -

00:26:973 (2,3,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1) - This stream is not very pleasing to the eye, also at the end of it the drum sounds exactly the same as at the start, so it should be the same spacing. But on 00:53:973 (2,3,4) - drums play on blue tick, on 00:54:973 (2,3,4) - they just sadly do not.

00:56:806 (3,4) - Nothing happens here that would justify two circles, either start one slider and end it on blue tick, since you wanna map vocals here, or just one circle.

00:58:139 (9) - NC this, not 00:58:473 (1) -

I wont point NC's out anymore general rule, nc on big white tick or it gets unrankable.

01:15:806 (1,2,3,4,5) - Just as before, spacing seems too high here.

01:18:140 (5) - NC, Dont ignore your fat white ticks they are there for a reason, now im honestly done pointing these out, im sure you get the point and you can do it yourself, pointing this out even further would annoy us both :D

SV is too low in general IMO the flow is very bad because of this.

You clearly dont have alot of experience mapping Hards, your Better off Dead is alot better quality wise. One thing you should never ever do, is end sliders on big white ticks like this 00:07:951 (8) - Big white ticks always need either an active beat, or none at all if nothing happens at all. Never an inactive one, like spinnerstart or sliderend.

For all of this id suggest to look at alot more other maps with ahrd difficulty and learn from them and then remap.

00:58:451 (2,3,4,5,6,7) - this is very bad spacing for example. On paper its ok but it plays badly.

You have a general overuse of repeat sliders IMO

Also check this out t/517731 and scroll down to hard and read it maybe it helps.

Its not complete anyway yet, so it would be good to start over again so you dont have to redo so much

  1. Kiai should be consistent throughtout all diffs. Also your use of kiai is not justified. Imo it should start at 01:36:139 and end 01:52:139 or smth. It is the most intense part of the song. And other times when you turn it on music doesn't even really change in intesity to support that.
  2. Putting Belmont, 731 in tags is redundant.

Since it has snapped distance I will mostly comment about aesthetics. And this map sure can use some polishing.

  1. 00:01:139 (1) - this slider is neither parallel nor creating an anggle that is pleasing to look at.
  2. 00:04:139 (1) - make this mustache bend around previous slider?
  3. 00:05:473 (3) - this and all similar cases: I think placing the slider slightly lower to support its curve looks better. 00:13:473 (3) also here etc...

  4. 01:20:140 The difference in volume is too big imo.
  5. 01:30:473 (2) - place a lil' bit lower and rotate ccw to make it look better.

  3. 00:10:139 (1,2) - those are the same in music as 00:09:139 (1,2). Both work but you have to pick one: either a slider with end on blue tick or whatever without using the blue tick. Point is - same music - same hitobjects.
  4. 00:18:139 (3) - Ewww.
  5. 00:21:473 (1) - not sure it should be curved.
  6. 00:22:639 - sound here that should be mapped. And on next three empty red ticks aswell. You have objects on them everywhere but here.
  7. 00:46:806 (3) - Needs to be less curvy imo
  8. 01:04:139 (1) - make parts of it parallel to eachother where it makes sense to make it look polished? Don't go full notch hell. Other slider look cool tho.

  1. Kiai should be consistent throughtout all diffs. Also your use of kiai is not justified. Imo it should start at 01:36:139 and end 01:52:139 or smth. It is the most intense part of the song. And other times when you turn it on music doesn't even really change in intesity to support that.

  1. Kiai should be consistent throughtout all diffs. Also your use of kiai is not justified. Imo it should start at 01:36:139 and end 01:52:139 or smth. It is the most intense part of the song. And other times when you turn it on music doesn't even really change in intesity to support that.

  1. 00:00:140 - 00:03:140 this part should have much lower spacing to reflect the music.

  3. 00:10:139 (1,2) - those are the same in music as 00:09:139 (1,2). Both work but you have to pick one: either a slider with end on blue tick or whatever without using the blue tick. Point is - same music - same hitobjects.
  4. 00:18:139 (3) - Ewww.
  5. 00:21:473 (1) - not sure it should be curved.
  6. 00:22:639 - sound here that should be mapped. And on next three empty red ticks aswell. You have objects on them everywhere but here.
  7. 00:46:806 (3) - Needs to be less curvy imo
  8. 01:04:139 (1) - make parts of it parallel to eachother where it makes sense to make it look polished? Don't go full notch hell. Other slider look cool tho.
  9. 01:27:639 (2,3) - hard to read. Rearrange a bit to make 2 and 3 stand out.
  10. 01:35:973 (4) - sounds literally the same as the one on the red tick before. Why stack than?
  11. 01:37:639 (5) - Both unreadable and ugly. You never used such spacing for kind of time between notes. Make it more readable somehow. Perhaps move it past the slider a bit as if continuing it. Oh you already did it in the next one so it's just a "typo". Fix
  12. 01:43:806 (5) - Yeah it's kind of readable but you never used such overlapping before. Why start now?

i fixed up mostly everything on my difficulty, except for the part at 9-10 seconds that you thought i should change. i went over it many times and i thought it looked fine, and if you listen to the music closely you will tell that it isn't exactly the same.

The same is for the jump at 1:35. i thought it looked fine stacked, and if you listen, the red tick isnt exactly the same as the one before.

i changed everything else to fit the song better, thanks for the help

I have nothing better to do so here's some of what I think could be fixed ;) Only checked 'Better off Dead' difficulty.

- 00:08:473 (2,3) - Felt strange, I'd go with a single tap after 00:08:139 (1) - and then red-red slider. Flows a bit better imo, unless you want to keep that pause. But you kinda did what I just mentioned a bit later, here - 00:10:473 (2,3)
- 00:31:140 (1,2) - I'd swap them, think it should start with a slider.
- 00:40:139 (1,2) - White - white slider fits better imo, with a single tap where 00:40:473 (2) ends
- 00:41:140 (5,6,7) - I don't think they should be in the same stream as 00:40:806 (3,4) . They're clearly different, feels a bit strange to me ^^'
- 01:09:639 (4,5) - Seems you're following the vocals so might want to swap these around.
- 01:10:140 (1,2) - I'd make these a slider instead, they feel a bit out of place, especially if you follow the previous statement :p
- 01:42:306 (5) - I don't think this should be stacked, there's a strong emphasis on the note before it. I'd move it on 01:41:806 (2) instead.
- 01:42:806 (7) - If you're following this pattern, I think you should place it right between these 01:41:973 (3,5) , looks better imo?
- 01:49:473 (1,2) - These are stacked a bit weirdly.
- 02:07:640 (5,1) - Wow, the spacing. Is it intentional?

Short explanation about the structure of the mod~

In the general tab there will only be things are that consistently done throughout the map, which means that the example given is not the only issue present within the map. Since there are many of them, I won't take the time to link every. single. one. of. them. This ultimately includes both good and bad things. There will also be some short tips for you, since in the end, the whole modding process is for you to get better at what you're doing and try to bring forth your own style of mapping.

Difficulty specific tab I will only point out things that are easily fixable and doesn't really happen too often throughout the map. However the severity of these will fluctuate.

General

SPOILER
  1. A lot of irregular and non consistent spacing throughout the map. This mostly includes your use of spacing in general. Most sections have little to no change in spacing, even though the intensity of the song is way different. Examples are- 01:20:140 (1) -> 01:32:140 (1) compared to 00:04:139 (1) -> 00:16:139 (1) The sections that do sound the same, does not use the same spacing either. Which for consistency is very bad, due to how it makes the map come off as non structured.

  2. Slider shapes are wonky/too curved most of the time and you miss a lot of blankets. Gives the impression of experimental/new mapper slidershapes. All objects, should have a clear thought behind them. Why is this slider pointing this way, or why is it placed here? Why is the spacing different between these two? etcetc. A lot of sliders right now feels off in that sense. I can not seem to understand why they are pointed in the way they are, which a modder hopefully should be able to do. This is because they are not consistently done in one or two ways. But are done in so many ways that there is no clear structure. Examples are- 00:04:139 (1) - and 00:06:139 (1) - Both are seemingly shaped the same but they are curved differently. One curved too much, and one curved less. This trend continues thoughout the map.

  3. Irregular/non consistent rythm choices. Quite self-explanatory. Your use of rythm is somewhat okey, but points you seem to drop the consistency for the sake of what you want to do at that exact moment. It breaks structure and makes it feel random. Examples- 00:04:139 (1,2,3,1,2) - and 00:12:139 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) - I'll write more about this in the overmapping section. But this seem to be a common trend throughout the map, which you should try and fix.
  4. Ending sliders or downbeats/snares & other strong beats a lot of the time. Also quite self-explanatory and easy to fix. Examples- 00:06:806 (4) - 00:08:473 (2) - 00:17:640 (4) -

  5. Wonky/non structured stream shapes. This is the same issue as the slider one mostly. Try use convert slider to stream more OR create polygon circle for circle streams. Examples- 00:46:973 (2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - a wonky S shape 00:58:973 (5,6,1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,1) - wonky circle stream 01:32:806 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - Doesn't fit the music at all.

  6. Lots of flat angles on jumps. AKA degree >= 90 (Squares included) This is what bothers me the most, but it may mostly be because I'm a big hater of flat angles in generel due to how they play, like shit. The general conensus is to try and avoid using flat angles as long as the music does not beg for them to be used. So in one way it's very subjective, but that does not make it okay for it to play like shit. Reduce the amount of squares you use, as well as things like this. Example- 00:30:806 (5,6,1) - too high spacing to play as a fluid "stream like movement" and not enough spacing to justify you having to snap to it.

  7. Unneccessary SV changes during vocals. Do not do this. Example- 00:42:139 (1,1,1,1,1) - I see what you are trying to do and in some cases it is perfectly fine. But it does not fit in this song. You could achieve seemingly the same kind of effect by using different spacing depending of the power of the singer. And as long as you do the same spacing, at the same beat, throughout the map it will be structured.

  8. Overmapping. (Mapping beats that simply does not exist within the song) 00:12:139 (1,2,3,4,5) - ??? There is nothing that calls for 1/4 sliderspam here at all. The guitar simply does not shred fast enough at all... It is also not consistently done throughout the sections that sound the same. So in short do not do this. Ever. 00:14:806 (5,6,7) - here as well.

  9. Undermapping. (Missing beats that exists within the song) 00:04:639 - Missing bass beat here and since you're not consistently missing the same bass beat through the section there's not reason for you to miss this. 00:48:639 - Should end the slider here since it now ends on a strong beat. Would be better to use a circle for that to make it an active beat.


    However at the end of every dark tunnel is the light of the exit. You have some solid ideas and concepts that you use consistently.

    00:00:140 (1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3) - Nicely done, even though the sliders can look better the idea fits the song very good.

    00:36:140 (1,2,1,2,1,2,3,4,5,1) - These kind of back 'n' forth jumps fits the song seemingly perfect, yet again the execution could be better.

    01:03:806 (1,2,3,4,5) - Very simply and effective stream. Looks nice and plays nice.

    01:12:139 (1,2,3,1) - Good way of sewing together the crash hits with the guitar. Could do the same on the last note instead of using a single. The shapes of the sliders could be improved though.

    02:16:140 (1) -> 02:23:140 (1) - Yet again the back 'n' forths that fits so well with the music, but the placement of some notes could be more well thought out.

  • 00:16:139 (1,2,3) - Could make this a triangle by copy pasting the first slider twice and rotating them 120 degrees and -120 degrees.

    00:20:140 (1) -Copy paste this and CTRL+J to replace the next slider to make it look better.

    00:24:139 (1) - Weird placement and curve. Could try and blanket it with 00:23:806 (7) -

    00:25:140 (4,5,1) - Flat angle, plays weird.

    00:32:139 (1,1) - Wonky looking slides, just make them simpler.

    00:41:140 (5) - Emphasise this beat more with higher spacing.

    00:41:973 (9) - ^

    00:55:473 (1,2) - Spacing is too smal compared to the rest of the section.

    00:56:473 (1) - Skipping beats by using this slider.

    00:56:806 (1) - ^

    01:00:639 (3,4) - and 01:01:806 (3,4,1) - You gotta keep it consistent. The first one is hella spaced and jumpy and the 2nd one makes you stop completely.

    01:03:306 (4,1) - Should be a triple.

    01:07:806 (1,2,3,4,5) - Would argue that you should use repeat sliders for this due to the pause right beforehand. Harder to acc because of it and it is frustrating.

    01:09:139 (3) - No need for a repeatslider here. Replace sliderend with either a slider or a single.

    01:18:140 (1) - Slider instead of a single.

    01:18:473 (2) - Ends on a strong beat.

    01:18:473 (2) - End spinner here instead.

well to be completely honest, i found it pretty demoralizing, and it made me realize how difficult it is as a beginner mapper.

•00:16:139 (1) - dont put sliderends on important or intense sounds like this, use them where the sound is the same or lower as the one on the start of it (the "same" part doesnt apply here since it's a pretty long slider
•00:47:639 (4,1) - i'd make these a bit more spaced since the kicksliders before don't overlap, it feels kinda underwhelming to have no movement into the burst
•01:12:139 (1) - lol those lines, try using some red points for slider art as well, they come in handy

thats how the audio is in the album folder because it transitions to the next song. my friend tried editing it but it just made the offset all messed up
