Round 42: QQ Diamond

Nominated by Lybydose. Basically four circles placed one beat apart from each other in a diamond pattern along the four edges of the screen, which makes them jumps. Similar to Square Formations that are tilted to from a diamond. A variation is to make the user jump diagonally instead, similar to Square Formations v2.

Map(s) that use this technique
ZUN - Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke mapped by Lybydose
Horie Yui - Sugar Sweet Nightmare mapped by kioukiou
SYNC.ART'S feat. Sakaue Nachi - Forever Cherryblossom mapped by S i R i R u

Sure
Moe Moe Jumps

These are good, but it should be noted that it's not a tilted square since the playing field isn't a square. I think this should also include scaled down diamonds though, because I've seen and used smaller diamonds (but still jumps) and they work better then these.
OzzyOzrock
Easier to hit than actual tilted squares.

These are nice, but they're so common and I feel so unoriginal using them :P
ziin
it's a rhombus

Just a diamond pattern won't be interesting, and it actually looks...boring.
But nonetheless a very generic way to place 4-note 1/1 combos.

They are pretty common yeah, but it's fun to play and map, so 5 from me

If used on fun bits of the music, it's quite cool to play so.
But usually it's just 'over used' (imo) like crazy and I really don't like it then.

Voted a 2.

It's a bloody deformed diamond.

Also, 2 since it's unimaginative, usually has unequal spacing, and generally sucks donkey dicks.

Generally rather uninspired and used in fairly inappropriate places. 3

They are not THAT great to play, and visual appeal is nice though a bit overused. I still like them when they are placed on epic parts on the song that are demanding 4 jumps. 4'd

They feel like "fillers" in some cases but I can't deny that are easy to hit and also that they don't affect the flow of the map.

If it's a rhombus (like in the picture) it has equal spacing, though the donkey sucking potential is indeterminate from said picture.

I welcome this in slow songs, and somewhat dislike it in fast songs.

4. Doesn't look as good as squares.

Bland and uninspired. Anybody can come up with the idea of placing hit circles on the axes at the edges of the screen. They feel decent to hit, but I wouldn't even give them the time of day.
Mercurial
Epic Square Jump is Epic. <3
OzzyOzrock
3 1 2 4 plays better

These sorts of patterns drive me crazy. They just feel like a cop out that can be used because the map's "Insane."
Scorpiour
I like it

en... and it easy to put (just put a note, and copy, and rotate, LOL)

by the way

i like cross jump more

3, depends on spacing/matching the rhythm of the song.
