Footage of the first minutes got leaked. A bit spolier-y I guess so don't watch if you don't want any plot stuff given out.
wow ZeniMax are fast, already took down any Youtube upload in an instant lol
Part 1Part 2Both in one videoI gotta say I got both a bit disappointed about this and also a little more excited. It looks waaaaaaay too much like Oblivion complete with stiff animations, general combat/movement still looks and feel floaty, static mannequin like NPCs and so-so graphics from a technical standpoint. Though voice acting is a definite improvement, no more of the "hey wasn't this the same guy I talked to before" moments, art and character design is also a whole lot better this time, which is closer to Morrowind's dreamy and surreal alien look rather than Oblivion's generic aesthetics. Plus the setpieces and choreography are quite nice, if most of the other quests in the game are going to have the same if not more of the quality of it, than it'll definitely be a fun journey throughout.
Problems from Oblivion are still plaguing the game that's for sure, especially combat and animations, plus the curse of Gamebryo (I know it's a new engine but it's pretty obvious it's still based on their old Gamebryo engine from Fallout/Oblivion) is still present making the game suffer some mediocre graphics despite its good art design. Which is kinda disappointing after playing a lot of other RPGs this year like Witcher 2, Dark Souls and Deus Ex which not only nailed combat perfectly, seamlessly combining player input skills and statistical skills but also a superb graphics both in technical and artistic directions.
I guess it's still a bit too early to judge so far, especially since it's a compressed mediocre quality video, plus played on a console, and there's always the modding community to always fix what Bethesda screwed up. Despite some of the gaping flaws so far, it seems to balance out on the improvements as well, I'm definitely excited to explore Skyrim and still definitely looking forward to this.
