So I am going to buy one. And my budget is about MYR3000 (USD975 approx.)
Please post specs please to make me make a comparison quickly. Thanks.

EDIT: Yeah, if you would post computer parts instead of a whole pre-built CPU, please post the price in as well, please? My internet is very slow atm

I bought my computer from Phyrearms for ~540 USD + shipping.

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
AMD Phenom II x4 B45 Processor 3GHz
4GB Ram

Malaysian shipping from the US will probably be as expensive as it was to Australia. lol

I can't recommend a full pre-built system but I can recommend the best price/performance combination of components at this current time:

Option 1 - Ultimate Power

Second Generation Core i7 Build :: Newest Sandy Bridge architecture

Motherboard: Any compatible P67 chipset ASUS/Gigabyte ATX or E-ATX motherboard with USB 3.0 ports
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K CPU (goes up to ~4.8 GHz on stock air cooling)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6950 (slightly lower clock than 6970 but much cheaper)
RAM: Corsair Dominator/Kingston HyperX or suitable equivalent - get one with a low a CAS latency as possible
PSU: 1000w generic PSU
SSD (boot drive): Any OCZ Vertex 2 or Intel X25-M drive - they are expensive but it is worth it for the overall system performance boost.
Storage HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB offers best value for money for raw capacity.
Case: Antec or Cooler Master full size ATX tower

Option 2 - Solid Workhorse

AM3 Build AMD Phenom II X6 :: Outgoing CPU, but offers good value for money. Chips run cooler than Intel generally.

Motherboard: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO or similar
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition

Make sure you know what is inside the case you are buying. People who sell pre-built desktops usually use inferior RAM and hard drives to cut costs which harms system performance.

^This.

Oh wait, if I'm going to choose an i7 or a Phenom X6... Oh wait. Someone help me comparing it. Give me comparisons that are easier for me to understand than what I found in Google orz

Rokodo's suggestion sounds good, but off my budget lolz

EDIT: slight changes to first post

You really probably won't notice the difference between a Phenom II X6 and the Core i7 in day to day tasks. The i7 is really for bragging rights. Sure you get 8 threads but only 4 physical cores, though the AMD lacks hyperthreading technology you get 6 physical cores.

Both CPUs are well suited for video encoding so I suppose it's a case of what you want, bragging rights or budget value.

Also, the Intel Core i7 2600K is based on a 32 nm architecture so requires less power and may live a longer service life. The AMD CPU is manufactured on an already obsolete 45 nm process.

HOWEVER, the supporting motherboards for the AMD CPU will be quite a bit cheaper. Just make sure to get one with USB 3.0 for future proofing.

Aren't current motherboards now equipped with USB 3.0? :?

I can build you a awsome pc for 1000. Shipping out of country would be about 100 bucks though.

The I7`s are a great chip. Kinda overpowered but if you do alot of things at once its perfect. Honestly you would have to be dumb not to base off a I7 build now a days for the cheapness of them. Not to mention easily overclock to 4ghz. No real need for that but its there.

second generation of I5/I7 came out last week just fyi

Hmm before I would buy all of them, anything else I need to buy? e.g. SATA cables, whatsoever.
Rena-chan
SATA cables should come with your motherboard.

There'd be something wrong if they didn't.

That's the first generation i7s, and they really don't run cool enough to warrant that speed for anything more than gaming and general use. Rendering will fry the chip unless your cooling is awesome which means you may as well have spent more money on a CPU higher up the model range e.g. 950 over 930.

AMD chips from the same era run cooler so they overclock enough to make up the performance difference (on a pure frequency basis) - Intel generally gives you more cache per CPU core.

The i7 2600k can push 4.8-5 GHz on air given the right motherboard/RAM.
