How can I up my alternating speed?

Hey, so I've been playing this game for a while and I've recently hit that 4.5 star wall that all player seem to come across when they're getting better. My specific problem is I can't alternate fast enough to get through streams at 200+ BPM.

I guess what I'm looking for is some strength training for my fingers, or something, in addition to playing. So I'm an alternator, and I often rest my wrist on my desk when I play. I've switched my tapping keys to QW because my hands are kinda big and my desk is kinda small. I Know there are probably multiple threads out there for this already, and if you know of them you can just link them.

Thanks.

It's all about practice, just give yourself more time.

There's not special secret to improve in this, just play more.

Unless you have a shit pc, or a shit mouse/tablet which impedes you to play comfortable.

As said above just play more but getting a mechanical keyboard (specifically mx browns) was really helpful in helping me stream faster

Darn, I knew it. That reminds me, I need to change the nib on my tablet pen...

Thanks, guys.

200+ bpm streams are hard. Even I'm struggling with that. If people can do it with that low playcount/hitcount, this game will be too easy.

Just keep playing. It will improve by itself. Getting a mechanical keyboard also might help, but still keep in mind that improvement doesn't come right away.

Aside from doing 100 squats daily, the best way to improve at streams is to play them. Here, have a ton of streamy beatmaps: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Note: I did not make this list

Sorry for not having a magical tip to make your fingers faster :(

You mean playing maps I'm already good at won't make me better at things I'm bad at? Sounds stupid.

here's a serious PRO tip

go buy yourself a dumbbell and do wrist curls(and reverse wrist curls as well) every other night and you will strengthen your forearm, the part of your arm that primarily controls your wrist

stronger wrists = faster tapping

playing osu alone is not enough to cause significant muscle gain in your flexors/extensors so wrist curls help that issue with high intensity reps
i don't think forearm strength will help much with

I actually tried it for 2 years or something and when I started playing with keyboard, I had instant consistent 270bpm singletap but sub-decent streaming

this was getting painful at the time

Is it screenshot time

I had good speed and stamina a couple weeks ago, now that's gone and I have good aim instead.

Now I can barely do 200bpm.

Forearm exercises might actually help me, for I have notoriously weak wrists. (As in I've broken each one twice within the span of my short life). So, thank you.

I'll also look into those stream practice maps.

Flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor digitorum profundus, extensor digitorum and extensor indicis are the ones you actually want to get good with. Wrist movement isn't a factor unless you're literally moving your palm up and down while tapping.

Anatomy kid here.

Tapping doesn't use the wrists much if at all. Depends on your hand position.

OP it really just takes practice. Try stream practice maps to start with.

You're going to need to push your hands a lot OP. Start at 200 and play maps with a lot of circles. Slowly up the bpm as you go along and you should have it actually.

They still would because wrist flexion and extension (not the movement - rather, the extreme wrist positions) significantly increase the pressure on the median nerve. But wait this is not even the reason, if wrist movement isn't the direct reason of CTS then it's not necessary either.

With that in mind I use my wrist primarily when singletapping ~220+ bpm and I think most people do ;w;

if that was true no one would ever get carpal from osu

also it's not like forearm exercises like wrist curls don't train your whole forearm so i don't see your point other than semantics
Carpal is from median nerve pressure, meaning wrist position, not movement. While it is somewhat related to forearm muscles, wrist stretches help so much more. Strong wrists help, but there's nothing like a good break.
