Losing Ranks?!

Hi guys!

I am relatively new to the osu!mania scene (about a year now) and have achieved rank #9902. Although I have recently been receiving demotions even though I have been beating my high scores. My current rank as of today is #10,383 and slowly declining.

Any input on how this is possible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

More people are getting higher ranks relative to your progress.

How did you come to that conclusion, or is it just common knowledge that this is why I am losing ranks?

You are beating high scores on maps that don't reward you with much pp.
Take a look at your top performances: most of your highest pp plays were achieved about a month ago. Rank only increases with your weighed total pp, so setting new high scores on maps that don't reward a lot of pp will result in other players overtaking you over time.
