There probably is a thread like this, but I don't know how to search for this since every time I put something in the searcher, it finds tones of useless topics.
To the point: how can I convert a video so it has worse quality but less file size? I tried it with my After Effets, but a quality is so bad that I'm not too happy about results.

You don't need a bad quality videos with low file size. You should check here

You're probably trying to use the google search instead of the built-in forum search tool.

Anyway, if you're trying to make a video recording, then check the thread that Crimson linked. However, I assume you're asking about how to get a video suitable for use in a beatmap. Try checking this forum where general beatmap questions such as video help are common.

Thanks for both answers. It was about what Derekku said though.
I've searched through threads in the forum you pointed, but found nothing :/ Gonna do a thread there or try searching for answer more...

Try searching for something like "video" or "converting" or even "compressing" on that forum. Once you find a decent program, though, you'll probably be better off finding an online tutorial to see how to use the program. VirtualDub seems to be common, but I didn't really care for it. I use SUPER, and found it a bit easier to use. Try googling for that, perhaps?

Also, I'll move this thread over.

If you are trying to convert osu! videos, it is probably advised for you to use VirtualDub since most videos are .avi and you seem to know a little bit about what you are using (After Efffects is definitely not the most user friendly program).

The usual problems with videos is that their bitrates and/or resolution is too high, so I advise you to try reencoding videos by slightly lowering the resolution (doing it some percentage of the original is probably the best way here), slighly lowering the bitrate (if you don't know what the original bitrate was, try plugging in a number between 300-500 kbps), and using x264 for the codec. Reencode and change these numbers until you get the filesize you want. Good luck!

Edit: In case you didn't get how to do the steps above, here is a quick guide on how to use VirtualDub: viewtopic.php?f=56&p=647631#p647631
