When you first started playing osu, which beatmap did you play the most in order to get use to the way it worked/get better at it?

When I first started, I mostly did Luigihann's Super Mario Bros Medley. It was really simple since I knew how the tunes went (who doesn't? ><) and it helped me get a feel for the game and get better.

What about you guys?

Cruel Angel's Thesis, the Neon Genesis Evangelion theme. I had just joined and was looking for a beatmap to figure out how the game works, saw this, remembered how much I liked the song, and downloaded it. The difficulties were just right for me to adapt my previous Elite Beat Agents skills to the mouse.

ZZT's Glamorous Sky beatmap did it for me. So did Kharl's Saitama 2000 map(on Normal)

Also Scatman.

I can't give any single or any bundle of maps credit for my ever so gradual skill improvements but Airman for Jamesspacing skillups and Twister Ultimate has probably made me good enough to do DejaVu Ultimate sans-pitiful-score

4 maps I know of, in this order:

- Caramelldansen (easiest 2 diffs, with doubletime for training purposes)
- Cooking by the Book (Easy/Normal, all harder mods on to train all of them, S-ranked)
- Marisa [Hard] (played and finished in about 15-20 tries within my first week here for zx-combo training, on a bet, and because I'm insane)
- agony [Insane] (5 days and counting...)

There's been a few others that thought me things. Mainly stacks, I used to hate those. Spinners have never been much of a problem, although hover-spinning was required after I switched from my dad's smooth-plastic-covered Graphire3 to my own slightly-textured-plastic Bamboo, which made spinners in particular make the tip disappear nearly visibly fast and ruin my wrists because of the added friction. I forgot which map helped me with that, might've been Scatman. I played that one quite a bit also, but for fun, not training purposes.
