Mario Party 1: I don't know, never could find it
Mario Party 2: This was a pretty awesome game. I loved pretty much every minute. The Nintendo 64 Mario party's were the awesome part of the Mario Party series.
Mario Party 3: The same thing I said about Mario Party 2.
Mario Party 4: I was kind of a disappointment, but I guess thinking back to some of the mini-games it was still pretty good. The Gamecube almost ruined Mario Party.
Mario Party 5: It was still better, it was almost as good as the old Nintendo 64 Mario party's.
Mario Party 6: It was pretty nice. It is even closer to being like a Nintendo 64 Mario Party than Mario party 5.
Mario Party 7: I had so much hope in to this, but this is where the Mario Party series died. It wasn't good.
Mario Party 8: Even worse. The Wii officially killed the Mario Party series.
Mario Party advance: It tried its hardest to feel like a Nintendo 64 game but in 2D, but I just didn't feel it. I usually buy Mario Party for the Mini-games but it's the other way around for Mario party advance. The board aspect was awesome, but the mini-games weren't.
Mario Party DS: It's a cross between Mario party 8 and Mario party 2/3. It's not great, but it's not awful. It's in the middle.

Poll needs a "too long, didn't read" option :p

From skimming it over, I think I agree. Mario Party 1 was pretty good, 2 was great, and it was downhill from there, with Mario Party DS being the one exception. I think they should just accept that WarioWare > MarioParty and work on fleshing out future WarioWare titles to be as robust as the classic Mario Parties.

I Kinda liked all of them except 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and ds....

As the series progresses, the gameplay regresses. The larger the number on the end of your copy of "Mario Party", the higher the luck factor. I remember both Mario Party 1 and 3 being awesome, didn't play 2, have 4 and it's nothing special, 7 had some fun vocal minigames, 8 had its humour (jacking off onto a turtle or something?) but overall they're becoming less and less like games that you play and more and more like visual torment that has you too fearful to even roll the dice, afraid for that star you worked so hard to get.

Nah it was always heavily luck-based, but the big difference is that in the earlier games, the minigames were actually fun. In the newer games, the minigames are such a pain to even sit through that having to play them feels like a chore, and so the randomness factor is just a slap in the face on top of that.

That said, it really sucks to be playing Mario Party with only 2 or 3 human players, because the CPU player is bound to lose all the minigames but still win thanks to the bonus stars.

More succinctly,
it really sucks to be playing Mario Party

Mario Party is about vulgarity, suffering, and backstabbing your friends.

But I guess if you're drunk it's more of a party and less of a catalyst for social disaster amongst friends.

Mario Party 3 was great, but Mario Party 8 was pretty boring. Mario Party DS was horrible, even though Wi-Fi could've saved it. Haven't played the others.

I usually buy these games for the Mini-games. The boards are still based on luck, but you have orbs (Mario Party 1-7) or candy (Mario party 8) that make it a little less based on luck. I just like the mini-games. They could've left the board out of the game for all I care.
