the type initalizer for 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics.GraphicsAdapter' threw an exception.

Does your PC meet the minimum specs - specifically the DirectX9 requirement? This error means that DirectX cannot find an appropriate video card in your system.

Just in case you missed it, these are the system requirements.
*Recommended 1ghz+ CPU (2ghz+ for smooth video)
*Minimum 256mb RAM (512mb+ recommended)
*DirectX9 and a graphics card that supports DirectX9 (64mb+ of video ram recommended)
*.NET Framework 2.0
*FFDShow or equivelant video codecs (only for video support)

So basically, if your computer is more than say...4-5 years old, there is a good chance you won't be able to run the game, unfortunately.
