it's pretty easy to have multiple emails--for instance I have my student email for academic stuff, gmail for signing up for accounts, and my personal account, whereas I only have one phone. And buying more than one phone seems...excessive. Not to mention it costs money as opposed to free email accounts.
But yeah giving out your phone number on a public board--especially considering some of the posters here--seems to be asking for disaster.
