It would be really nice if the game would remember undos after you test the map (using the test map button). Lets say you make a huge change and want to test it to see if it works, and something goes horribly wrong. why not be able to just undo it and fix it all instead pf having to do it all by hand. have an example: im currently working on a hard file for mania. i wanted to double the bpm so the min and max weren't so drastically different. i went to test it and all the notes were off. i left it in triplets on accident and now the entire song is off (including the parts with a different bpm) now instead of hitting undo i have to go through all 4000 notes and by hand place them where they are supposed to be..... and it all could have been saved with my last undo.

Alternatively there is the option of not forcing the save before testing. the only other "undo" editor is the save, but.... the game makes you save before you test.. so reverting to the last save does.... nothing....

I'm not an expert in that field, but I suppose osu! needs to force a save before testing in order to render the beatmap correctly.

but that doesn't mean it cant create a secondary save to use for testing. either way, the main point is some sort of form of undo (either by saving or the actual undo button) that lasts through pressing the test button
