What's a good way or site to get SNES game sound effects?

I'm trying to make a Donkey Kong Country skin, and while the music from the game is easy to find, sound effects are almost nonexistent. Every video game sound effect site I find focuses more on Mario and Zelda. I have a .smc ROM of the game and would extract sounds from it if I knew how. Is there a good site for Donkey Kong sounds or a good tool for extracting sound effects, and not just music, from SNES ROMs?

Snes9x with menu "File" -> "Save SPC data"

When I needed the dying sound effect from DKC for my map I found a video on youtube that had it (there are alot), used a website to get the mp3 from it (you can easily google that), and used audacity to cut it so just the sound was left

As for finding a website or getting them from a ROM I had the same problem and don't have a solution to it, but good luck~ There is prob a way to do it somehow
(let me know if you finish the skin, I enjoy mapping DKC)

What sounds are you looking for anyway?

Most SNES emulators let you disable sound channels. Just turn off the music and record the effects yourself with Audacity/FRAPS.

Off the top of my head:

- The sound for picking up a banana (Slider tick)
- Deep-voiced Kremling sounds (Miss, fail, etc.)
- The sound when a bonus room is uncovered (Section pass)
- Various Donkey/Diddy sounds to experiment with. I've found one DK64 voice sample on Youtube so far.
- Object sound effects (Barrels, projectile shooting)

Recording from the computer in Audacity is a bitch in Windows Vista and 7 because Microsoft seems to have disabled that, but I'll try looking into using FRAPS and turning off sound channels to get the sounds myself. If anyone already has some of the stuff mentioned above, though, that would be great.

Okay, I've figured out what channel has the sounds I want in ZSNES, but Audacity is still useless and FRAPS apparently doesn't work with that emulator. Any ideas?

How about updating your audio/motherboard drivers?

I only have this for my sound instead of Realtek:

And Sound Recorder is only picking up the microphone for recording.

get a male-to-male aux audio cable, and connect it from the green speaker out port into the pink mic in port. :p

If you update your driver, then you should be able get stereo mix.

However, I have a custom sound card which won't allow me to update it.
