Hello, if you clicked on this topic, you are probably a metalhead like me, searching for people to discuss about your passion, or maybe are you just curious to discover something new? Whatever your reason is, you are searching for something... powerful, brutal, strong, enormous... And you're in the right place for it

Tell us who is your favorite band, your favorite genre, your favorite artist, and tell us why it is your favorite, discover new songs, bands, genres you probably never heard about.

I'll start, my favorite genres are Deathcore, Brutal Death, Melodic Death, Heavy and Rapcore.

My favorite bands : Gojira, Black Label Society, Dying Fetus, Whitechapel, Smash Hit Combo, Pleymo, Enhancer, DevilDriver and Rage Against The Machine (because Tom Morello is a GOD)

Quick example of what i'm listening at this exact moment : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvfC81y43d4

Now's your turn !

Same, I still prefer the cheese of the 80s heavy metal than the "oh my god look it me I am so kvlt and brütal the fuck do you mean melody?" stuff, though some of the more atmospheric stuff like Burzum I can roll with.

I listen to mostly post-metal (Rosetta, Isis, Cult of Luna, etc.) and doom/drone metal; although, my favorite metal band is probably Boris (not sure what you would classify them as..). Although I'm an alumni now, I host a metal show on my Universities student-run radio station - http://wkdu.org/program/music-keeps-you-night

I really play anything that I think sounds good (and would fall under the umbrella of "metal").

aww yea. Flood is one of my favorite album though I think it's more of a post-rock drone album. Still not into metal that much but I've been listening to it more unlike before. Currently listening to Idylls and Deftones.

So i guess i'm the only one who's into more brutal stuff? Well i'm actually pretty surprised by everyone's tastes so far and i took the opportunity to listen to new things, wich is cool.

i actually never really liked this kind of stuff, tho i never heard of Cult of Luna so i decided to give it a try, sounds really good to me, but didn't really give me chills down my spine.

I'll just roll away and post one of my favourite Amon Amarth songs then o/

I listen to a lot of doom/death/whatever (I'm terrible with genres) as well. I love stuff like this track. It's from an awesome collaboration album between The Body and Thou

Raediaufar
Since I like all the metal genres it's pretty hard for me to pick favs, but I think I'm more into power metal, melodeath and technical death since I like many bands from that genre
-Seren-
I like metal but I don't really like hearing too much growling, and that's why I prefer mostly instrumental songs or Vocaloids since the growling is bearable and can even hardly be heard. My fave genres would be metalcore/death metal.

I really like this instrumental version

But i never really know their song. Got any suggestion ?
Black_Electric
Favourite metal band - Dethklok
Favourite genre - Melodic Death Metal. I absolutely love the mix of melodic/harmonic leads and chords with the heavy rhythmic sections.

I don't think I need a reason.

That part of my post was actually copied from the OP so that I could remember the questions he asked, haha. Oops.

I hope that everybody here knows BLS cause that band is quite legendary if you ask me.

I really like Black Metal, Power Metal, Folk Metal, Viking Metal, Melodic Death Metal and 80' - 90' Heavy Metal.

jackfrostjunes
when it comes to rock i like mines classic, hard and old school metal! anything that came out before the 90s
like this band for example! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGY8XDL3Vqk
Shock
I quite like prog metal (including djent), melodeath, and melodic metalcore. Not a huge fan of instrumental-only music though, unless it's part of a larger concept so as to give it more meaning.

Holy shit dude, I am really, really digging that upbeat folk metal vibe there. Can't say the same about the vocals though. Got anything similar with cleaner vocals maybe?

Unfortunately no, i do not know any other bands with this epic vibe :/
However Equilibrium has a few, long instrumental songs, and acoustic covers of their songs, which you will probably enjoy.

Here, grab a playlist.
Makeli

Well if it's folk you want I'll suggest Ensiferum. Not sure about that vibe you were talking about but slayer of light kinda falls into thrash category with that intro but whatevs

Holy fuck how did not see this thread...

Christian Alvestam is one of my favorite singers and I have no idea why...

I reallly like Metalcore and Nu-Metal or the genre SiM makes xd
Nightwing
Yeah, metal is for sure my passion. I wish I could play the percussion or the electronic guitar :c. Meh, one day I'll try. I listen to lot of metal genres, but I'm most into black metal (a lot of DSBM!).

Check out "Bilskirnir". They are really amazing.

Mastodon's my favourite metal band.

This is a live performance of my favorite song of them. Still sends shivers down my spine.

Chose to check out Maybeshewill instead.

Mistakes were made.

That track being in Need for Speed: Most Wanted was absolutely brilliant.
