Recettear is a game about an item store, the girl who lives in it, and the fairy whose job it is to make sure that the girl doesn't burn down the item store by accident.
Official site.

So I found out about this game after reading this article about the demo at HG101 and I've been pretty interested in it, and the company doing the (really good) localization, since.
Got around to downloading the demo after hearing that it had been picked up for distribution on Steam, and it's actually really quite fun and entertaining. I recommend you at least try it (the demo takes a couple hours to finish and shows you the first week of gameplay.)

Capitalism, ho!

Really nice surprise to see this on steam. Pretty unique idea, and dungeon crawling was damn nice addition and it works well. Can't wait for next friday :)
even though i praised the game, i thought this would sell and work actually better if it was on ds. it reminds me abit of atelier annie: alchemists of sera island. In that game, you also go to dungeons to collect some materials and then use alchemy to make items to people. Well almost every sandboxy game is better on handheld console.

and rape customer's wallet

a bit spoiler: if u get the best price (not too high or low) you'll get an extra merchant experience points
heintsi
what's best percent to sell to get that bonus? i usually put 150% price and after that 133 % and never been able to sell any more expensive and guess below 130% is also too cheap.
-SiN-
depend on the costumer's smile
Claudia_old
I sell for 130% then lower to 115%, i'm too damn nice.

PRODUCTION QUESTIONS

Hey, how come all the voices are in Japanese still?

Unfortunately, while Carpe Fulgur is capable of providing what we believe to be a professional-level localization of all text and graphical elements in the game, we do not currently have the resources available to produce an English vocal localization of a caliber we would consider acceptable. We have therefore opted to leave the Japanese voices in the game, partly at the request of EasyGameStation themselves (who wanted the Japanese voices to be available in some form regardless) and partly because given the choice between potentially poor English voice work and no English voice work, we opt for the latter.

It should be noted that the voices in the game are not a critical portion of the gameplay in any event - there are only approximately a dozen fully-voiced lines total. The rest are "generic" vocal clips inserted into conversations for emphasis or sounds associated with dungeon combat. If the Japanese voices annoy you, they can be turned off completely in the options menu with no detriment to gameplay.

Now, if Recettear is very successful at retail, then one of the things at the top of our priority list is releasing an "English voice patch". We do want to produce an English vocal set for Recettear, but at the moment it's purely a matter of resources - and you can probably guess how you can help on that front!
i wish they did not do that :<

impulse have it already
/me download from impulse now

that's pretty bad

why not hire NISA (or whoever does their localization) to do localization for the game they always do top-notch stuff I definitely do not want to hear a bunch of yippy little japanese girls
Neo@lex
They should get Egoraptor to do all the voices.

thanks, it solved that prob.. also can't get past 200 k bill :/ gotta try again today..
Reason why it goes void is probably that i got amber garden unlocked really late, and i get to only sell low price items. gotta run shop bit more to get the charme event bit earlier.

There's a new patch, v1.106. Fixes a lot of broken enemies that were doing 1-2 damage before (Ahrimen, Knights, Bombs, robed motherfuckers casting fire), and tones down slimes and ropers significantly. Dungeons should feel a lot more balanced in general; early dungeons will be easier, while later dungeons will be much harder.

Dumb question,
How do I get those 3 links to work?
Copy all 3 to the root directory of the game?
All three have identical files in it.. so I'm wondering how to copy them in order lol
-SiN-
your recettear is impulse ver. James even though its from "different" source.
you only need 1.106 and its work

Remember, you're invulnerable for a short period of time while using skills.

Dungeon running: Use mirror image, kill enemy, dash to next enemy, repeat. Bring Eskimo boots if you hate ice floors. Healing rings are good if you have shitty equipment. Get a Twisted Blade as soon as possible (Pure Edge + Earth Crystalx3 I think). Next upgrade will probably be from Crystal Nightmare boss rush.

Bosses: Use mirror image x5, run up to boss, attack until dead. Jellyfish is the only exception; use mirror images while he's swiping at you then whack him down as quickly as possible.

vs Charme, Tielle, Griff: use mirror image, swipe, repeat until dead
vs Arma: Flame charge until dead.
vs Final Boss:Use mirror image x5, swipe until it flies back, evade flame attack. Stay in upper half of the map for the first part of the fight, stay in the lower half of the map for the second part (lasers sweep low for the first part and high for the second)

holy shit so pro. Though i don't like using her but after i realize the character using his fists (i forgot his name)'s attack range is much slower, i'll consider on using her
Cyclone
I WOULD have beaten it in one loop...

"Price of Weapons has DECREASED"
"Price of Metal items has DECREASED"

Well shit there's 25+ items going to waste now.

and that shit lasted the entire final week pretty much. Was 30k short by the end.
