I always get confused in Animes because after summer break, it seems like (In slice of lifes) that they are still in the same grade level as they were.

So when does school start and end in Japan?

Remember anime doesn't need to simulate reality either.

how else would we get an accurate portrayal of a typical Japanese girl without going to Japan?

It's quite simple really. The characters of SoL anime are so airheaded that they get held back a year every time due to wasting their time doing all that slice of life stuff instead of focusing on their schoolwork.

At least the K-Ons managed to get their shit together and graduated

To be fair, I am only confused because Prince of Tennis (and The New Prince of Tennis) lasted for so long and yes... RYOMA ECHIZEN IS STILL 12 YEARS OLD. He didn't even get older yet and I think they had 2 spring seasons already. It's been like at least 10 years already, I want to see a cooler version of Ryoma. No homo.
