I wouldn't usually make an announcement for a new bancho command, but this one needs to be known by all so it is used effectively and not abused. Starting today, you can use !report to get the attention of a chat moderator in any public channel. This is useful if someone is spamming, abusing others, or causing problems in general. Abuse of the !report command will carry severe consequences, so please make sure your usage is justified.

usage:
!report <reason for report>

ie.
!report peppy is spamming vulgar language
Claudia_old
So it's !report <name, reason for report>?

Anyway, -very- useful command.

You don't have to include a name specifically (there may be cases it is more than one person, so you could in theory "!report help our channel is under attack!").

You can list anything as the reason, but generally it would make sense to name the offender(s).

Example: !report Derekku is spamming #osu
Example: !report lots of spam in #osu

EDIT: Ninja'd by invis-peppy ):

Better (and more convenient) than spamming each one of the OP's. Nice!

EDIT: BTW, too many news in a day. Wow!

What if a moderator doesn't understand the language of a specific channel? Google translate won't help if the sentence is incorrect
Hamuko
The person who is reporting or a eyesight that understands the language can translate, i think. :)

How do you know what he/she says is truth?

Most point of reporting is that a moderator is able to catch them while they are still doing it so they can take action
maay
do you think it could be used to report multi accounters as well?
Ari-chan_old
Very useful command :>

Generally you can't, which is why the staff need to do at least a bit of research. Internet translations aren't perfect, but as long as certain dirty keywords are being caught, people should be smart enough to connect the dots.

That, or if the user's just spamming. Doesn't matter what the language is, if they're crunching out 4 lines of text a second they're gonna get canned.

That's what I was thinking, hopefully we have some multi-lingual chat mods
Natteke
Guess we need a trusted OP for every channel we have who can prove wether it's true or it isn't

It's fine really. The idea is to stop future occurrences -- doesn't matter if one is missed.
