Altering timing help?

I just tried out osu! today and I'm having fun trying to map out my first osu!mania song. But I can't figure out how to place notes between beats, to take advantage of the little sounds the instruments make in the background. The wiki guide has pictures of having it in quarter notes; how do I adjust it so I can use those? Having a bit if trouble understanding some of it since I don't know all the terms yet. ^^;

You want to drag the Beat Snap Divisor Bar. 1/1 is Whole Notes, 1/2 is Half notes, etc.

When, you start up osu, click on the edit button from the start menu, then drag any mp3 file into the little box you'll see on the left, then follow the instructions it gives for timing, and you're on your way.
