Ordinarily we put some salted meat and Chinese cabbage in it

Hmm, although I live in Jakarta, I'll generally post Indonesian food then.
Ayam Balado Padang, basically it's chicken poured with mashed chili, with extra ingredients from Padang (West Sumatra).

Well, I love in Quebec (french canada), and here, the national food is made of 3 ingredients.
Fries, cheese, and the special sauce. You can also add chicken if you want a more complete meal.
It's probably my favorite fastfood though.

Back in Iran though, we have some really complex recepies:
Most of them don't look very appetizing since we use a lot of herbs and most of them are stews, but they are delicious<3

Also, as you might notice, 95% of our food has rice in it~

Close up pictures on food can look so disgusting if you only look at it very quick lol

But that rice looks good <3

I would post something from my hometown of Dallas, but I could easily just post up a picture of obese people and photoshop a cowboy hat on them and it would be the same thing.

Stay on topic please. 2 of my favorite dishes from my country. There isn't such a thing as hometown food, Singapore is tiny, so you could say the "hometown" food is everywhere.

Wanton Noodles.
Chicken Rice. Don't under-estimate this. It's my country's national dish for plenty of good reasons.
Ephemeral
As an Australian, I can claim just about every foodstuff known to the Western world is a hometown dish since there is literally EVERYTHING here. If you ever want a reason to come to Australia - come for the food. Shit is amazing down here.

That being said, kangaroo steak is amazing.

Another Padang food to post.
Sate Padang, also usually eaten with that Kerupuk Rambak (that one sealed at the plastic in the left of the plate)
The sauce is very hot, I can't withstand eating it without any drink.

I shall post some Malaysian Food then, and I am hungry

Asam Laksa
A rice noodle in a spicy tuna broth, vegetables and everything else. This is the only dish where it use this kind of noodle. It's a special type of "pasta" made for this dish

Karipap
A confectionary with curry potatoes and some fillings inside. More expensive karipaps will have boiled eggs, chicken chunks, tuna chunks, etc etc. No cheese or cheese-like stuff.

Kuih Talam
Another "traditional cake", taste fluffy and sweet, especially the green part. Generally it's made up of coconut stuff and pandan.

And of course, Malaysian favourite (and possibly Singaporean as well, as far as I know), NASI LEMAK
It's like hamburger in the west countries, a very small, easy-to-carry and convenient snack/meal. It's made up of nice with cononut milk, boiled eggs, and some sambal (a kind of chili paste with small fishes which taste very very good). There're lots of variations of nasi lemak. but the most common and cheapest one is this.

And of course, there are a lot of different Chinese food with a mix of Malaysia flavour in here as well, but maybe some other time later. xD

I love this dish to death, omg~
awp

my hometown doesn't have any native dishes that I'm aware of, but (last I checked) it has the highest alcohol consumption per capita in all of Canada so this is probably the most Bruce County it gets

EDIT: actual native recipie

So this beer actually is a Bruce County original but I'm more of a Blue drinker myself =<

Appetizer: "Krathong Thong" (Golden cups)
Cup-shaped fried batter with savory fillings.

Main dish: "American Fried Rice"
A Thai dish unknown to most Americans. It's said to be invented during the Vietnam War to cater to American soldiers stationed in Thailand. The dish contains a number of "American" ingredients such as fried chicken, ham, hot dogs, raisins, bacon, and ketchup, hence the name.

Dessert: "Thabthim Krob" (Crispy rubies)
Coated water chestnut chunks in sweet coconut milk.

Oh that American Fried Rice reminds me of this Korean food

This is called Buu-dae Ji-gae. Not much people knows why it is called like that but one theory is because that this food is created by the food given by the American Army after the Korean War (Buu-dae means 'Army').
It contains Kimchi and American ingredients (Ham, Sausage). You can put noodles for option as well. It does seem a weird and lousy combination, but hey, it is favourited by lots of Koreans nowaday

Minnesota is know for our state fair where we put EVERYTHING on a stick. No joke.

The most interesting I think is the alligator meat on a stick. But I didn't like it.
Also deep fried candy bars are something I wanna try this year.

Ah the land of the U.S.A. where we try deep frying everything and see how it tastes.

Mine too. Although I do have to cut down on it for my arteries' sake :P

Another one of my favourites. It's called a Beaver tail. It's basically fried dough with yummy toppings :D

And of course the Tim Hortens Ice cap :P. The rest of the world is missing out imo, and iced cappuccino just isn't the same as Tim Hortens. I actually found a tiny Tim Hortens (booth?) in Oxford street, London last summer :O.

didn't find a translation for sauerkraut ^^, but saft means juice. You're pretty much dead after drinking a bottle of this shit.

Pickled cabbage juice? Seems similar to this kimchi drink. (Though this is from Korea which is not my hometown but, whatever...)
