i started playing ctb seriously around 3 or 4 days ago and am already rank 19k 17k, does rank 10k by the end of the month seem like a reasonable goal?

I got to rank 8k in ctb with like 1 hour every two days of casual play. It's completely doable.
It is not hard to get high rank in CtB as there are comparatively less players playing CtB among all the modes (i.e Standard, Taiko, CtB and O!M)
So it won't be too difficult to get 10k in rank within a month

Not really 1k rank, I think it's ~800.
No much people play Osu!CatchTheBeat, so it's "easy" to be under rank 5k quickly.
Same for Osu!Taiko, it's quite easy to be under 10k rank too. ^^

I agree. Grinding around 700-800 is pretty damn hard and honestly, just as Storm said, that's where CtB is actually something and gets fun.
I've been around #700-800 for a few months now, and progress generally goes like this:
Life is so hard xD
- Play a few hundred maps over the course of one/two weeks and make no progress
- Get bored of 1-missing the same bunch of songs over and over
- Map for a bit, play other games or do real life stuff for a week or so
- Randomly decide to start playing again and miraculously FC the stuff you couldn't do before because you're not pressuring yourself to improve
Life is so hard xD
