I've only seen a handful of anime within the horror genre, so I can't help you much. 
Personally, I think that Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is quite good. The only other horror anime I've seen worth checking out are Elfen Lied and Another, but Another doesn't have much of an impact for me.

@Topic I don't watch much horror but I'd recommend Another or Higurashi, unless you're squeamish. If you are squeamish go back to the more light-hearted series, you'll probably want to puke watching most horror anime.Green Platinum wrote:

Pupa was terrible. Imo, the concept was great, but it was presented quite badly. It's closer to a gory horror, with a slight incest nature hidden within it.Ninth IX wrote:

I will give it a try myself, I usually like every anime I watch no matter what so we will see. The 5min episodes thingy seems pretty bad tho

OP probably wants 'scary' anime though.
Horror anime? I've only watched Another and Corpse Party.

Probably Hagurashi or Elfen Lied or School Days (School Days has a really nice song and i don't know the content of the anime until someone pointed that out orz) are same with Corpse Party.

Parasyte feels more like an 80's horror movie rather than what you'd expect from nowadays.
Higurashi, Another and Shiki if you want what you watch to be worthwhile. I think I'm forgetting something not mentioned in this thread though

edit: But yeah, I definitely recommend Another and Higurashi, perhaps even Umineko no Naku koro ni (if you're alright with unresolved endings). Elfen Lied, an abomination, but if you turn your brain off, it should be alright. Oh, and Highschool of the Dead. A++
