Recording with Stereo Mix as source...

...is always turning out crappier than the actual thing I'm recording.

I have inferences that this can be the cause of one of two things:

1.) I have a feeling it's because I'm using the built-in sound card of the computer?
2.) Or am I missing some setting in Audacity? But I'm already recording at Stereo btw

Everytime I try to record anything with the Stereo Mix as source, the output will always have more noise than the actual sound that I'm recording. Before I make moves, I just want to know if anyone has ideas as to what a solution for this might be?

You know, General Discussion shouldn't be the first place you run to for tech support.

I'm guessing you have a realtek chip.

Use Google. It knows.

It knows too much.

First error was using stero mix to record something. What exactly are you trying to record. If its a music file or something of that nature use Virtual Audio Cable. I stream music on ventrilo with it and youd swear its coming off a media player on your pc
