GeneralNot much considering it's a set for Approval, and the metadat really needs no research as the song has been mapped in the past. Think this is a nice interpretation on the song still.
The storyboard flash at 06:19:715 - was really pretty. Thought the explosive hitsounds and the intensity of the song really fit the color. Could you maybe put animated fire on the ships? I feel that would really fit the mood and the colors, as they reminded me of fire. Considering the battle going on in the background, it would give the 'story' more depth.
Fires of ForeverInteresting how much thought went into the playability of this diff. Despite being mainly linear flow and stream heavy, you managed to make this map really fun, and I think that's interesting. A few bits here and there could be improved playability wise, but other than those bits I think this diff is really good.
00:10:715 (9,10) - Interesting approach to balancing the diifficulty out, definitely much different to Kyshiro's. Rather than taking the simplification approach, you mapped the song as is while keeping the difficulty at a reasonable level. I thought that was cool.
00:15:515 (9,10,11,12) - so pretty
00:17:765 (7,10) - I think this pattern could be more readable considering how your map was constructed at the correlating parts [Ex. 00:15:515 (9,10,11,12) - 00:16:715 (9,10,11,12) - ] this could come off as 'surprising' and throw the player off. For a fix, I tried re-arranging it like
https://puu.sh/ycAJf/649ad136e7.jpg as I felt it matches your structure style, but it's up to you.
00:28:190 (1,1) - The ranking criteria needs auto to be able to at least get 1000 on these, as they're 'unreasonably difficult'
While auto can't get 1000, it might be a glitch because me and another player were able to get 300 on the spinner despite not being able to spin as fast, but if you want you can combine these spinners into.
01:49:715 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - The hitsounding here is ORGASMIC. It fits the drums so well
06:09:515 (1,2,3,1) - I'm worried this could be miss-read because the streams at 06:07:715 - onwards share a similar visual distance, influencing how the player will perceive these notes. If you put NC on 2 and 3, it creates contrast so the player understands to not play these as 1/4.
06:42:515 (1,2) - I think the the middle & end of this slider plus the circle sound off, almost like they have their own timing. To confirm, I slowed it down to 25% and listened, the slider and circles hitsounds played before what was mapped in the song. I tried placing a timing point of 178bpm at 06:42:515 - which fixes 2. The bump is still slightly off, but since the player doesn't have to click those it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not a master at timing, so if you want to be really sure I'd check with
Bonsai or pishi, as they are really good at this stuff.
Kyshiro's FirestormBefore I get into this diff, I'd like to say that I love the structure. Especially during the kiai, it all just fits together so well. The fact it's simplified makes it even more interesting, as mappers tend to un-restrict themselves to make good patterns. Playability wise, I couldn't find much to mention, but I do feel some parts could be improved visual-wise, which I feel would make this map much more interesting.
00:00:515 (1,2,3,4,5) - Love how you and Kayne both start the map with a similar concept lol thought that was interesting
00:14:615 (1,1) - Nice job including the 'cushion' with the compressed shape while still correlating to the upcoming stream. Thought that was really clever
00:16:115 (1,2,3) - I think this would look better if the upcoming stream 'lined up' with the center of the slider body. Small detail, but I think it's a slight increase in visual points you could claim like you did 00:18:215 (12,1) -
01:14:915 (1,3) - Thought this was an interesting visual effect as curved sliders look like waves, and what do 2 equal waves do? They 'cancel' or balance out.
02:01:715 (1,4) - One thing I've noticed about your structure style is your aesthetics are based on how sliders curves look next to each other > parallelism / alignment. I thought that was really interesting. This pattern here I don't think looks very good because it lacks the aesthetic that makes your maps interesting. I tried seeing if I could help with the pattern
https://puu.sh/ydvgQ/fd8c19eab8.png (Ar was lowered to see the structure) I'm not very good with your structure style so it might be a little off, but maybe you'll like what I tried.
03:59:315 (1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2) - Interesting visual effect with the spacing and the NCs. Really pretty too.
04:41:315 (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4) - So
c l e a n05:11:315 (1,1,2,3,4,5,6) - Really interesting slider shape. If you want to visually 'connect' the slider with the upcoming stream, you could make 05:12:515 (1,2,3,4) - these notes here a straight-stream so as they're parallel to the end of the slider.
06:42:515 (1,2,3,4) -
feels goodCouldn't find anything for Advanced. A well-done mapset. I would say 'gl with ranking' but I know you won't need luck to rank this ;P
