I used to use z/x, but then I switched to a and r (I use Colemak, so a and s for QWERTYfags) because I spilled coke on my z key. Eventually I switched over to 1 and 2. My z key is fine now, but I still use 1 and 2.
I've always liked Z/X.
8 and 9 on the num lock. if they break, it wont matter, they're just numpad keys anyways, also really close to my tab which I like.

Well i started using Z & X then i change my key bindings to A & S cuz it made more comfortable
