The year is 20XX. Distance between notes has been increased to the point where multiple monitors are required to play modern beatmaps. In an attempt to further increase spacing, the standard circle size has shrunk to double-digit values. Approach rate has been increased to the point where locating notes is instinctual. Songs are now mapped in double time. In order to accommodate the speed of the players, 32nd notes have been introduced. Players have reached a skill level that allows them to consistently full combo any map that the 20XX mappers can put out. Because of this, first place ranks depend solely on spinners. Mappers are now utilizing spinners more than ever due to them being the only remaining factor in determining who has the highest score on a given map.
