This feature would allow mappers to include a link to bandcamp or something on the map listing that allows players to support the artist if they choose.
If the link is legit a bat or qat or some admin could double the star priority of the map.
Note that this to allow players to easily discover new music and/or throw money at the musicians so obviously no pirating sites.
I'm not entirely sure how many players think about the music of maps so I think this could remedy that problem.

I'll let the community work their wiki magic from here.

Double the Sp?
God no
I do like this, as it supports good music

I like this but no double stars

I think there has to be something to motivate speedrankers to start using this.
What else could compete with the TV sizes that might be directly ripped from youtube or something?

Speedranking is terrible and should never happen imo
Doubling SP is like one mod giving 4 SP at some times
1 mod
Just 1
Yeah
Only 1

As far as I could tell people still do it though.
Might as well have something worthwhile come out of it.
Besides if the map is bad it won't get ranked or any stars.

Isnt a properly filled source/artist field enough?
Activate your inner google-fu its not hard.

Google-fu can get messy.
Also I think people would think more about searching for beatmaps than searching for songs when they see the source/artist field.
It helps to have a small reminder on the map listing that they could get the album.
Not like an ad, of course.
Just a small something between the source: and tags: section of the listing.
Something convenient and quick.
Like McDonald's without the ads.

The majority of music we're using here anyways is without permission. Simply linking to a site isn't going to do anything. In fact, it would acknowledge this.

Putting links in the description is more than enough. It shouldn't be part of the metadata field at all.

The only maps that might qualify for this FR would be stuff from the monthly beatmap contest, or from t/267427

Not needed, and not really wanted on my end. Like I said, use the description field. Google is pretty easy to navigate as well.

1. Download an mp3 in the format of beatmap (AKA pirating the song)
2. Like the song
3. Download the mp3 again from another source like iTunes but using that service cost 1$ per song
4. Be happy that the artist now gets like 10cents of your money.

If you want to support the artist just do a direct donation. It would be fucking retarded to download the song legally and give a 3rd party the vast majority of your money for the use of their service after you already downloaded the song illeagally from here.

Also lmao at the idea of increasing star priority

There has to be at least something that could be added that could make people think about what they're playing.
Like I said before people might not even think about searching google or even amazon or something.
People might not even go on the forums at all.

It would make things easier for other people if someone took the time to find something other people might have trouble finding.
This would be particularly useful for music not normally available where they live.

Maybe I'm just thinking this since I've been living under a rock here.
However that makes me think about the other people living under the rocks.

Like what is even the issue you are presenting? are you saying that there is a problem that people might not understand that someone actually created the song they are playing?

No I'm just saying it would be nice if just a larger slice of the community thought about what they're doing, even if it's just a slight improvement.
It may very well lead to less threads along the lines of "plz map song".
I mean it's not a problem. It just would be nice.

I'm also trying to think about why people would play osu! and not stepmania or something.
osu! makes downloading and making maps absurdly easy.
