Since I just got the game yesterday, I'm still just past the first gym

Haven't really played a lot, in Chargestone Cave right now. 5 badges, no Pokemon below level 30.

Mouth Hug (Tynamo) lv. 30
Bernkastel (Gothorita) lv. 32
Mokona (Cinccino) lv. 33
Smugleaf (Servine) lv. 34

I also started training Kling, got it to level 30, and gave up. Man, fuck that thing.

Cinccino is so cute, man. Too cute. Its movepool doesn't take advantage of its modest attack stat, but hey, Technician'd Wake-Up Slap.

I restarted because of this :( The bird fossil is fucking awesome. His attack and speed are top-tier, only problem is his ability is meant to hinder them (hp <50% = 1/2 stats)

Also, scrafty is probably my favorite 5th gen pokemon so far. It's ability is sexy for pve sweeps. Also, Scrafty was literally built for pokemon league. I don't want to spoil much but really. If you're having trouble with it (which you shouldn't - its ez) get a scrafty.

I made the same problem, but played on because I didn't care at that time. I just checked up on the stats, and holy wow.


I've already beat the 7th gym though, not sure if I should restart or maybe trade around for it.

My heart is broken D: Now I have to value ID 50505 vs Archeops ;_;
I only hope it is breedable so I can get it off from someone online atleast...

Even if it isn't breedable you can get it via the GTS.
I'm serious, I just breed starters or something and get legendaries in return. Sometimes just random Pokemon I have dupes of get me rare/exclusives.

Ancient pokemon are and have always been breedable. Also I took the turtle because I like its looks more.

(I currently have 4 badges and am battling trainers & stuff in the deep freeze.)

You could also get that egg with it's pre-evo too; it's somewhere on that surf route west of Route 1

I beat the elite four, so now I'm catching synchronizers for Zekrom. Is he Jolly or Adamant? What's a good one-under poke for Speed/HP?

...well, after defeating the Elite Four/Champion twice, now I have the official confirm.

This 5th generation will easily be recorded as the BIG march of the BIG snails.
Who finds a fast psychic (or ghost, or also fighting) pokémon will instantly win a million dollar, guaranteed. (legendaries/promotionals apart)

Not everything needs to be fast. jesus. We had enough fast Pokemon introduced during the last generation, it's about time we had some slower, bulkier stuff come in. Then again, I prefer to partake in battles that last more than 6-10 turns, when it comes to competitive play.

Also, Mienshao is pretty fast for a fighting type.

Okay, this is a general pokemon question, but what exactly happens to ditto's catch rate when transformed?


I have absolutely no problem when it changes to my Gallade, a single Ultra Ball when I false swipe it to 1 hp always catches it.
It accidentally changed to my Volcarona once, and I couldn't catch it.
With this logic, a weak pokemon should make it easier, no?

A Ditto changed into a lv4 Lillipup and managed to break 3 Ultra Balls with 1 hp before I gave up. What gives?

...this is shit impossible seeing as how the Ditto probably has a higher max HP... higher max HP = larger chances according to the current catch formula.

A Lillipup's catch rate is 255, so I don't understand how the hell you didn't catch it...

Well from Gen I to IV, a Ditto's Catch Rate changes to whatever it transforms to. I don't know if something happened in Gen V.

1. The Lillipup is Lv15 because the previous Lillipup-Ditto struggled to death, giving him exp.
2. Yes my Gallade is called Youki


EDIT: Now I can't catch Gallade-Dittos when I want evidence. I swear to god I was catching them left right and center with one ball just now.

Try to use dusk balls, more catch rate.

I've probably caught 10 Adamant and 10 Brave Volcaronas. Best one so far was Bold. ;_;

Caught 4 dittos, none of them Adamant or Modest. Oh well.


EDIT: Opelucid City has different music and style for Black and White. Woha, didn't know that.

I beat the E4 once and for some reason I don't feel the motivation of grinding to beat them again. I will eventually, just not immediately.

I just discovered that there are no EV berries anywhere outside the dream world, whose launch has been postponed indefinitely because of the earthquake, and whose use is highly restricted anyway, so now my Zekrom, whom I SRed for epicly awesome IVs, and needed to use in the battle against N/Ghetsis, is fucked.

Thanx GF. As if making them never-shiny wasn't bad enough.

And 'indefinite' in the sense that there isn't a definite date yet, and not 'indefinite = infinite', hopefully.

RNG hax is cheap. It saddens me to see how fast B/W's randomization was cracked. You should see the effort they went to to try and prevent this. SHA-1'ing the DS's time and MAC address to seed, constantly shuffling from user input, multiple streams, and finally retiring the LCRNG completely.

I wish they'd have seeded from microphone noise. That'd have stopped RNGers dead in their tracks.

The one-under method worked well enough to me. I caught Zekrom, Jolly, with IVs around 30/25/28/x/30/28 after catching only about 10 of them.

nope. Since it has an analog source, there'll always be analog noise. The first few least significant bits will always be very random. If you're using an emulator, you can always memoryhax anyway.

Anything that fucks over RNGers is good in my book. Real men SR/breed their Pokemon (the changes HGSS bought to breeding makes it quite painless, actually, if you know what you're doing)!

Anyways, Random Wi-Fi is fun. Mainly competent players, often Japanese, but it's getting more and more diverse as time goes on and more non-Japanese players beat the game and put together a good team and stuff. I faced a guy with 1390 wins today, actually. Pfft, those guys with less than 100 wins using weather teams. This guy was a man and swept me with a good ol' Feraligatr! (Interestingly, the Trainer Card tidbit you see before you fight him says that Feraligatr is his key Pokemon, which is shown by just how much it kicked my ass. Never knew you could build a team around Feraligatr like that!)

Note: Singles is Bring 6, Pick 3 with a banlist and stuff BTW, before anyone gets confused.

P.S. Today, I learned that Feraligatr's Japanese name is "Oodairu", which is "ookii" (big) + "kurokodairu" (crocodile). Japanese names are better my ass.

@Ekaru: You mean the bracers? I've always been too poor to get those. I'm too impatient to grind for enough BP, and I keep getting swept by Garchomp. (My gen4 BT team of Gardy, Electivire, and Vaporeon can't dent the thing.)

I won't be hitting wi-fi especially soon since I still need to clone my gen4 competitive roster and SR a shiny Tepig on Black. Also, speed tiers are different, aren't they? I guess that means potentially needing to reset their EVs on gen4, to avoid ending up like Zekrom.

Not really, though the number of Pokémon that are above base 100 has increased, and they are actually useful in Random Matchup's 3v3 system so you'll see a lot of them compared to the standard 6v6 rule

You might also want to have a Ninetales counter handy... I find that a majority of the Random Matchup top players are sun abusers.

Probably the only guys of mine aiming for speed tiers are a lead Weavile and a cbgross. The rest either don't care about speed or max speed.
