hey, long story short I've been trying to get better in this game with a lot of breaks during the year(one long break because of carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms) and the others are just because I couldn't improve and it got me frustrated...

not too long ago I tried to come back again and to my surprise I was better at aiming(at least that's what I thought) and came to a conclusion today that everytime I comeback my readabillity is quite fine and after a couple of days it just disappears and I SUCK...

a good example could be this map Yousei Teikoku - Senketsu no Chikai [Insanity] (http://osu.ppy.sh/b/142954)

about 5-6 days ago I almost passed it.. right now I cant go through the first quarter of the map without failing..
this also applies to this map: Various Nightcore - Jump Training [<AR9> Make A Move (Jump Final Boss)] (http://osu.ppy.sh/b/441890)

I bet nobody has any idea why this is happening, but ill give it a try anyways ;x

replies are appreciated! thanks

(btw I'm trying to improve my reading atm, not going too well)

you're bad because you are aiming to improve, you play maps with the idea that you will improve and you get nervous after every note you miss and after every time you fail. All you have to do is play each day for a couple of hours and ignore your bad plays, not everyone has a spark to play this game. I thought so too but then look at my jump in my profile from like a week ago or so.

Don't lose faith, but seriously the only way to improve is to play more. I suggest that you play for fun, osu! is a game after all.

while I'm playing a map I don't really think about anything except aiming to the circles and hitting them at the right time..

really the first days that I play after coming back are just wonderful I felt like I'm improving.. why the hell I'm losing my readabillity all of a sudden??

It sounds dumb to use this principle but does overtraining exists for osu or some shit like that? seriosuly.. I need someone to direct me what to do next

thanks..

Err, just play for fun?. Play some maps you can read, then progressively get better while enjoying yourself? If you get stuck at a wall one day...does it matter that much? play some maps to music you enjoy and have fun and you might get over that wall without even noticing.

Still somewhat dont get how playing more will help me read, if I play more and get worse at reading?

play less

once you play zero times a day, uninstall and get a life

Well if there is a trick/magic potion to acquiring this skill without playing more I would love to know also.

Basically when you come back after a long break you have no expectation to play well so you are more relaxed. After a few days you are back in the swing of things are trying really hard and this is sort of a bad thing. The key to reading is staying relaxed and getting in a good groove.

Edit: If you are in a mood to get good scores, play easier songs that you can relax on and focus on playing to the music and getting a good accuracy. Try to get either 300's or misses, fc's will come eventually. A 100 says you weren't in sync with the music, misses are either bad aim or not in sync, thus they are favorable to 100's. Aim is something that will just become 2nd nature as you play more.

The key to developing good aim is just to play every day. The first 30-60 minutes (numbers made up - point is doesn't take a lot of time) or so that you play each day will have the largest impact on your aim simply because it will get your brain to start developing new connections. Even misses will help your brain make good connections if you see where your cursor is and where the note is so don't feel like you have to do anything special during your warmups. Simply playing like you normally do a little bit each day will help your aim more than playing a lot once a week.

How do you have this "fun" I play video games because I need something to focus my energy into and want to become good at something. What is "fun" exactly? How do you know if your having "fun". The only emotion that's largely noticeable to me is frustration/irritation.

Fun is playing the game for enjoyment.
