What happened over the past few weeks?

So me and my family moved to a new place, meaning I don't have internet for the time being (using my mobile network. Thank you unlimited internet contract!). My osu is still on november 15 update for cutting edge build.
I also noticed while watching owc that the game's appearance changed. Did they switch to cutting edge or is that what the stable release looks like now? Has it become more demanding on machines with all them irresistible triangles?

I'm sure that there is a page regarding this info somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

Triangles can be disabled, so it doesn't REALLY impact performance.
