Here's an idea. Basically, you can trim a section of a song out, either by physically modifying the file, or by making the program skip over that part of the song (preferable, as I would like to keep the complete songs if possible).

Would make things a million times easier since the timing is already set in the beat file, so you don't have to re-time it using another program you probably don't use for anything but for trimming.

Wouldn't it be difficult to use/implement properly? A few milliseconds' difference can change the timing and make the cut sound bad, so it's probably still best to use an external audio editor.

usually the best time to cut songs ISNT just on a beat, so as sanchny says, it'd probably sound awful :P

Remember that if you cut a song, it's probable you'll mess up just by miliseconds, and BPM will remain constant anyway.

On top of that - I prefer the file trimming option for minimal filesize. Not everyone has unlimited connections (I have a lot of local friends with <10gb quota per month - Chan only has 1gb!). Also I find that trimming the start of the song mostly doesn't sound as good as if you leave it and allow users to skip (unless it is massively long).

Yes, spare a thought for my crappy wireless broadband quota. *cries*
