[New Rule] Guest Mapper's edit privileges

Hence due to recent cases and due to this usually being common sense so far, we encountered several cases where mapper and guest differ could not find a common agreement.
Moreover, due to some old sets may getting ranked with guest difficulies done made by mappers not being present anymore, this puts the mapper into a corner that he either needs to redo an entire diff or screw the entire set, moreover disrespecting the work of the guest difficuly mapper by simply deleting his work without letting him now.

Therefore, I propose a new rule to be set in stone for that, so everyone is on the safe side.

The mapset host and guest mappers can make changes to the respective difficulty as they wish. If there is a disagreement between both, the mapset hoster must delete the guest contribution upon request.

Discuss.

Can it also go on record that if the guest mapper doesn't care, you can have those rights shifted right away? I've had mappers give me stuff and tell me to do whatever with it numerous times!

Host and guest can make changes to guest maps. If there is a disagreement, the host must remove the guest's map on request.

The hoster has to accept whenever a guest mapper wants to change things hisself, I don't think it's on anyones mind to get something on its work changed, if the guest mapper doesn't agree with it.

If they can't find a way, the GDer can obviously ask to have the GD removed.

It's okay to edit things like metadata on a guest difficulty.
Also, if the mapper receives permission by a guest mapper to edit his/her changes, then the host mapper are free to edit the guest map.

I like this new rule.

We always had to check our gd's after the host updates the mapset (to make sure that he didn't changed anything by mistake... or intentionally)
This makes things easier for everyone and surely would make the ranking process faster.

ofc some people will be against this because the guest could ruin his own work at any moment without his usual recheck before update
then it's better let the host decide if the guest will be allowed to update or not, as Ztrot said.

Experienced mappers would usually make good use of this, but it would be better to keep an eye on new mappers?

It should be noted that stuff like this should be discussed BEFORE the map gets mods, to prevent disagreements from exploding when the map gets qualified.

There should also be an attempt to notify guest differs if a map is revived

Generally spoken, if you do not trust the mapset hoster, do not provide him your guest diff. This should be common sense, but apparently isn't.

I used to think that this was common sense, until people that i trust changed stuff without my permission (usually when someone make them think that something i did is unrankeable), and i was always fast to reply/send updates.
This happened at least 3 times, with different mappers, and one of them resulted on unrank.

Allowing the host to give or revoke Guest Mapper's edit privileges would be cool, but its fine if this won't be included.

btw what about Collabs?

Giving this a week before I bubble this with the following wording:

The mapset host and the guest mappers can make changes to the respective difficulty as they wish. If there is a disagreement between both, the mapset host must delete the guest contribution upon request.
Any final comments/suggestions/wordings are welcome.

Bubbling with the following wording:

Question.

Hypothetically speaking: If I have a map, some random dude gives me a guest diff but after some time before rank he goes full hiatus mode and I make some changes to that diff, it should be still named after the guest mapper or his/her name should be removed from the mapset?

Obviously, implying that this random guest mapper doesn't show any signs of life anymore for a long time.

what lmfao

It's still primarily made by the guest differ

Even if changes are made through someone else.

When one of my collabers literally died, I still had to make some changes to his diff still. It didn't make it any less of his diff.

It's kind of like a book. If I make edits to a book as an editor, it's not "CDFInsane ft. lesjuh changing that one slider that I didn't feel like changing", it's still just me, but edited by the map creator

One just doesn't know, you see...

Either way, thanks for clear that out.

With the change of how the Ranking Criteria Subforum works from now on, topics like these are obsolete.
