I've been trying to figure this out for a while. If I download an image and use it as a background, it's fine, but if I create an image in Gimp, or Photoshop, and place it into my skin folder, all I get is the default skin. Is there something I'm missing, or is it just me?

Just drag your image that you want directly in the main menu screen (when osu! first lauches) start-up

.jpg, and .jpeg are the same file formats.

Well sadly osu doesn't support the extension. Just change the extension to jpg.

I tried it myself when I had supporter and can say that only .jpg-images are working. Also use t/51694 for any kind of questions instead of making trheads.

Both Cutting Edge and Stable offer .png and .jpg support for menu-background as long as you're a supporter. Give it a try.
