Old Beatmaps

Hello everybody,

I started playing Osu two years ago but was inactive for a long time and even had uninstalled it. Now I got back into it and am slowly but steadily increasing my beatmap collection. Now I have a question. It's said that old maps are not as igh quality than newer ones. but I am wondering, when is a beatmap old enough that I shouldn't bother downloading it anymore?
What is your opinion on that?

Maybe some maps like before '09? afaik t's just a result of immaturity of ranking criteria back then.
It doesn't mean that the old maps are all bad, but it needs you to either get suggestions from some advanced players back then, or to search and select by yourself.

Old maps are not bad, they're just often mapped in a different style compared to newer ones. If you really don't like the style of the old ones in my experience anything 2011+ is cool.
