Going through the oscar winners, one movie caught my eyes.
It's a short animation film (17minutes) called
Logorama
Was quite hard to find, the only place that had it was demonoid (of course, the last place I check is public trackers)

Almost every single frame is cleverly made.
It has pretty much every single logo you can imagine in it.
The voice/audio is pretty shitty, but the video is short and clever.
Worth a watch, might wanna mute the sound though.
Oh and wtb HD quality of it :(
Mogsy
Man, all I've done recently is write music and watch movies. Here, have some new suggestions.

In Bruges
Rampo Noir
Shutter Island

IMDB links added later, on iPod now.

Just finished watching Sherlock Holmes.
Great movie, worth watching. If you liked The Prestige or The Illusionist, you will love this too.

Also, when you download, make sure you don't mix it with this shitty version
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1522835/
Fuckers released a movie in DVD with the exact same name and year just to confuse people and hopefully sell some copies.

Or get both and enjoy the experience that is The Asylum Films. (Or rather, laugh at the acting of some of the people they hire.)

The part that is even more sad is scenegroups trying to bait people with it too.
And they do it for almost every popular movie. I remember seeing "Malice in Wonderland" and "1000000 years BC", but this one was the trickiest of all because it had the EXACT same name :<
Faust
Pineapple Express.
Also,
Go (2001 Japanese film)
The_Priest_In_Yellow
Surprised this hasn't come up, but we had a kind of horrible movie night that went over into good movie night somehow.

Which leads to this:
I'd like to add The Secret of NIMH (1982) to the list.
Rokodo
Vote: Requiem for a Dream

The guy's arm rotting away was cool.

Recommended movies:

Employee Of The Month (comedy about supermarket workers)
Office Space (comedy about office workers)
Trainspotting (raging Scotsmen on heroin)

First one was pretty shit, but office space is a classic and yes, i already nominated trainspotting. I love their accent and drug related movies are amazing~
Rokodo
Yeah really, it even shows you how to cook up a batch, which I'm assuming would never be allowed in today's oh so over-protective society.
Mogsy
So, over break, I pretty much watched movies and played Pokemon. Here are movies I watched that are definitely worth recommending:

Thirst
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
Lady Vengeance
Okay, that's enough of my Chan-wook Park recommendations.

The Host
Lars and the Real Girl
Loginer
Just finished watching Pirates of Silicon Valley. Bill Gates is God level troll.
Nice Guy_old
Try watch The Godfather series.
rulingvenus
all of Hayao Miyazaki's movies such as Ponyo and Spirited away
Faust
Has Kara no Kyoukai been mentioned?
Well whatever.

Seriously, I get lost in all the non-english movies and stuff.
Also, please do not go like "ALL THE MOVIES BY [director]" and stuff.
We're trying to build a list of must-watch amazing movies, not a list of good movies.
Liclaclalaclilac
Star Wars....I like Star Wars... ^^
Saving Private Ryan, an epic Movie....

The Departed
Grave of the Fireflies (Best Ghibli Film [my opinion])
Battle Royale (You missed that one?!)
The Seven Samurai (Epic.)

BATTLE ROYALE FUCK YEAH.

Adding support for Love Exposure (if you can deal with a 4 hour movie) and Battle Royale (it's not too great, but it's something you have to see at least once in your life).
GladiOol
Shutter Island.
I bet alot of people will hate this one, but I actually loved the mystery in it.

The mystery of Shutter Island is obvious, but it's a genuinely good psycho-thriller with a pure intention of freaking you out.

Adding my support for The Thing.

Just watched Dead Snow and I thought I'd add what I think are the essential zombie movies that you have to watch. (Not adding support for Dead Snow though, although it was a pretty cool film.)
(I still haven't got a copy of Re-Animator or the Evil Dead series as I am lazy and I like buying things.)

Brain Dead/Dead Alive: Peter Jackson's greatest film and quite possibly my favourite zombie movie of all time. Zombie babies, kung fu priests and hot lawn mower on zombie action, it's got everything a great zombie movie needs.
A bit hard to find a copy here in Australia, rented the VHS from the ACMI. No idea about other areas.

Dawn of the Dead (Romero's 1978 version.): The sequel to Night of the Living Dead, survivors haul up in a mall during a zombie apocalypse, awesome shit goes down.

Shaun of the Dead: DON'T STOP ME NOOOOOOOOOOOOW! CAUSE I'M HAVIN' A GOOD TIME! HAVIN' A GOOD TIIIIIIIME! From the braaains of Shaun Pegg and Edgar Wright comes this sort of spoof, sort of homage, completely awesome and completely bloody hilarious "romantic zombie comedy" that makes cricket and vinyl cool. Really, you should have seen this by now and if you haven't...geez man.

Versus: The yakuza takes on a forest filled with reanimating corpses in a war that spans worlds in some sort of contest to become ruler of the universe...or something. The plot is bat shit crazy and the characters are just plain awesome with a guy who seems to have an infinite number of guns stored in his pants and a zombie who can scuttle around like The Fear.
Kung fu action, katanas, guns and a complete disregard for physics. This is how you entertain people.
(Totally worth checking out the films from the same director like Godzilla: Final Wars and Aragami)
Mogsy
holy fuck I post too much in this thread

I add my support to The Thing, Versus, and Shaun of the Dead. In addition to that, nominating Carrie.

I'm surprised High Fidelity hasn't been mentioned yet. Also, Planet Terror and Death Proof.

Putting in a vote for Koyaanisqatsi.

Just watched it again for the first time in years and I don't have the words to show my appreciation for it.

Adding Primer
Most mindfuck time travel movie I've seen so far.
Even after reading the explanation and sitting there thinking for 15minutes, I'm still not sure if I fully understand what happened :<
It's one of those movies you'll be watching 4-5 times to fully get what's happening, but it's definitely worth it. One of the more "scientifically accurate" time travel movies.

Well, tbh, the first time I tried watching this was 2 years ago, when I had way less overall knowledge and about sciences. I barely got 1/3 through and just stopped watching. But this time, I could actually understand way more (my english also got better), and it didn't feel anywhere as boring.

Also, it's one of those movies where you figure out more stuff every time you watch, like The Prestige for example.
But yea, I can see it be extremely boring if you have no idea wtf is going on.
Faust
Pink Flamingos.

Oh, I didn't particularly find boring. It was very interesting and I read up on it after watching it.
It's not really something I feel like experiencing again. The Prestige too for that matter (maybe for David Bowie).

La vita è bella (Life is beautiful) (1997)
It's a great movie that takes place in the midst of WWII, tons of history packed inside of it. Make sure you have a Kleenex box handy while you watch this film, if you do.
