I always vote 10-8 for every map, even if I hate the map.
I use 10 if I enjoyed the map and it had a good flow. Unfortunately I don't have that many favorite slots.

I vote on every beatmap i play. But before i vote i play each difficulty at least few times. Then i think about good sides, bad sides, put them together, and give a vote. I use every rates (1-10). I like to rate beatmaps. Anyway, at the moment, there is no beatmap i voted "1", and two beatmaps i voted "10".
In my opinion: When You want tot vote. Think about it, and try to do it correctly.

every map that goes up now is almost guaranteed a 9 because people give 10 so easily, see the old maps are all around 8.2 - 8.5.
if you take away all of the bonus james has based on all of his ranked maps, he's only 8.5 or so, is he still truly one of the best mappers? yes.

Unfortuanetley every osu! player doesn't share that thought, so they get mad if they have their map voted one. This leaves them insecure if their map is good or not.

This is a game where the rating is directed to more than just a song, you are supposed to rate the map as a whole, and especially the work of the mapper.
My rating is a bit similar to awp's. The lowest rating im giving is ~6 since that's the border of ranking criteria to me. Usually rankable maps are somewhere between 7 and 9, now add a 1 and a 10 to it... you see, there is a much bigger problem with 1s than with 10s.

Songs and beatmaps share a symbiotic relationship.
If one is lacking, the other will suffer also.
It is then only natural that they should be rated assuming they are a cohesive unit. Normally, this is how most people do things. Good songs save bad beatmaps and good beatmaps save bad songs.
This may rattle you, but rating is somewhat accurate of a map's intrinsic worth, if you like.

I still find it funny that I tend to vote very low on songs I actually like because I felt the map could have been much better.
I download songs, and delete any I don't like. All the songs I have downloaded I would count as a "favourites" list, because I don't keep anything else.

I don't vote on anything, since I have a system in place to get SS on every difficulty of every ranked map by the year 2035. Therefore, I'm playing the songs in order of difficulty. Therefore, I don't play all levels of a map at once to get a full understanding of the entire map in order to vote. For me, if there's a song I really like and/or the layout is impressive (usually the former), I'll add it to Favorites A (Favorites B is for the Monthly Ranking Charts maps).

8 - Great map! I respect the creator
9 - usually for songs that can give me score 8 million+, and the map is awesome, usually English songs
10 - Usually from SB (like don't stop me now), the song is great i can hardly forget it
Favorite - Since there's no 11 - Usually by nice skin elements also outstanding SB, and awesome map flows

you should delete bad songs not FC'd songs imo
my goal is to fc every single song on hardest difficulty no matter how bad it is, so it would be kinda counterproductive :p

"I vote stuff based on my perceived quality of the map, using 5 as 'barely acceptable', anything less as a scaled failing grade, and everything above based on how much I think the map could have improved. A rating of 10 means I would never want to see anything drastically changed, a rating of 9 means that it is near-perfect and could only stand to have one or two mild improvements. A rating of 8 means I found the map very enjoyable. A rating of 7 means the map was a good effort and is reasonably enjoyable. I had fun playing it, even if I don't feel it's worth playing over and over. A rating of 6 means that the map was at least playable, but it wasn't very fun."
