I really don't know why, but my OSU gets some errors regarding score submission sometimes. Also, in multiplayer mode sometimes it would display that there are no rooms available, when I'm sure there are at least 10. When I restart OSU the multiplayer mode works again but all my scores are deleted...

Can anyone help? Is there something I'm supposed to install other than OSU?

This should be in technical support.

And it sounds like some connection issues, but there have been ddos attacks recently, not sure if this affected bancho though. Keep watch of #osu chat for any server maintenance and such.

And no, you don't need to install anything other than osu!
