Why I suggested this? For example, when I changed the divisor to 1/4, I can't really tell the difference between a 1/4 beat and a 1/8 beat, which is why I came up with that, shown in the picture. By the way, you can make this feature optional to the users if you want to.
Colour suggestions (from Stepmania's Edit Mode):
1/4 - Red (R: 255, G: 0, B: 0)
1/6 - Violet (R: 128, G: 0, B: 128)
1/8 - Blue (R: 0, G: 0, B: 255)
1/16 - Yellow (R: 255, G: 255, B: 0)
1/24 - Purple (R: 255, G: 0, B: 255)
1/32 - Orange (R: 255, G: 128, B: 0)
