Problem Details:
I had downloaded a beatmap, link here: https://osu.ppy.sh/b/39679. I had dragged my songs folder to my desktop for easy use, I don't know if that would have changed anything. I had tried downloading the .osu file and the .osz file. I dragged one into the folder and checked if the beatmap was in the list of my maps, but then osu! had said I have 0 beatmaps available. I had tried to access my list of maps, but it had said that osu! is processing my beatmaps, and the screen froze.

(I press Esc after the screen freezes, and it sends me to the page with the beatmaps, link here: https://osu.ppy.sh/p/beatmaplist?m=-1&r=0&g=0&la=0)

This has been happening every time I try and access my beatmaps list. I quit osu! and realized I had accidentally dragged both files into the songs file. I drag both files out, but the same problem still happens. I go check my songs folder in osu!, and all the songs were still there, in the songs folder. Could someone explain to me if I had done something wrong, or how I can fix it? I am on Windows XP, with the latest version of osu!.

Video or screenshot showing the problem: none. I couldn't take the picture of when osu! froze, sorry.

EDIT: Well, this is embarrassing. I just thought that when I logged on today. xD Thanks, Lanturn.

osu! version: 20140814.1 (latest)

You need to put your songs folder back into your osu directory, because that's where osu reads it from. It doesn't know to look on your desktop for the songs folder.
